Jailhouse Rock & King Creole - Revisited

OK I lied - not a 'proper' review of the film, but just something that occurred to me.

That famous 'staged' sequence of the title song.

Always felt something was wrong with it, but couldn't put my finger on it.

But looking at the avatar of our very own 'The Purple Gang' member, I realised !

They've got a pole thing that runs up to the upper level of the 'prison block'.

Elvis leans against it, then slides down !

But prisons don't have poles like that !

It's fire stations that have those !

It's taken over 50 years for that to dawn on me !

Oh well.....................

Well, I've watched Porridge and countless documentaries.

Rather than put in things to speed up getting from top to bottom, they put up barriers to slow down [or rather stop] anyone trying to make that trip !

It's the firemen who need that speedy descent, not prisoners !

So I have no idea whether the Lawrence of Arabia depiction was accurate or not.

One of the Hungarians on the Titanic was a bit of a hero. I don't remember the details. Something to do with rescuing a child who had slipped overboard and everyone gave up on it except him.

I read about it years ago - around the time when the wreck was first located.

Well, I didn't actually say that.

Not a 'mistake' as such, but when that lag gets coshed into unconsciousness by the screw & Elvis moves forward, I always expect him to get bashed too !

But the screw just starts tapping his other hand with his cosh in time to the beat !

Elvis was obviously one of the 'untouchables' !

So ekenee, what differences have you spotted ?

I think we should be told !
