In addition, the phrase "Not For Sale" is printed on the disc as well. The front cover contains a close-up of Elvis' face from the 50's plus a superimposed picture of him in his gold suit. Both of these pictures are presented on a blue background, making them distinctively different from what we have been accustomed to in the past. The inside of the cover insert outlines the objective behind the "Elvis In The 90's" campaign. It also previews the contents of the then-upcoming box set. "The Complete 50's Masters". The back cover lists the 18 tracks included on this release as well as their recording date and chart debut.

This package also contains a replay card for radio disc jockeys to comment on the promotional program contained on the disc. The inside of the cover contains the tracks included on the CD and instructions to the radio stations.

The actual radio special contained on the CD is nothing exceptional or unusual. The entire show, narrated by Lou Simon, is an unashamed commercial for the '50's box set. It goes into great detail to explain how all of the tracks have been painstakingly remastered from the original master tapes to achieve the best quality possible. The rear cover lists the contents of the CD on a blue background and contains the following phrase: "Promotional Copy - Not For Sale". The CD itself is silver with black print including the "Elvis In the 90's" logo and the following phrase: "Promo Only - Not For Sale" under the logo.

This is a superb picture CD portraying a young Elvis using only a touch of beige. The entire artwork on the disc gives an impression of a hologram. In addition, the picture is nicely complemented with pink print on the disc. At the bottom of the disc, it states in dark pink print: "Promo Only - Not For Sale". The front cover exhibits a very attractive black and white picture of a 21-year-old Elvis in the shape of a heart. The inside of the cover provides explanation behind this release and provides marketing suggestions to the stores which received this CD. Total running time: 19:03 minutes

The front cover of this release is exactly the same as the commercial cover except it contains the phrase "Selections from" in the title. The inside of the cover provides recording data for the tracks included on the CD. In addition, the insert includes a full page color photo of Elvis on stage in 1972 - identical to the one used in the commercial release under the second CD tray with a small "Not For Sale" warning in the top right hand corner. Also, on the left side of the CD, we have the "Not For Sale" phrase printed in large bold print. The CD tray is of the see-though type with a photo of Elvis lying on his back on sage behind it.

Technically, this release is not a bona-fide promo release. Nowhere on this release, the phrases "Not For Sale" or "For Private Use Only" are printed. In addition, apparently 10,000 copies have been pressed. The front cover features a color picture taken from the "King Creole" publicity shots. The title of the release is printed in red print in the top right hand corner of the front cover. Inside of the insert, contains a color photo from the '68 Comeback Special and another early 60's photo is reproduced on the reverse including the track listing. The back cover shows a color 1956 photo with the track details and the Blockbuster logo in blue and orange. The CD itself is a picture disc containing a black and white picture of Elvis in Canada in 1957 on a white background with silver print and the Blockbuster logo in blue and orange.

Exclusive! The King of Rock 'n' Roll lives

Catalog nr. RDJ - 67983-2

One of the strangest promo-cds I have ever seen, this CD belongs to the top five-list of hard to get promo-CDs. They have used it for advertising on the American television during commercials. It comes with a 8 page booklet. The frontcover has 5 wellknown pictures and the praise "Exclusive!! The King of Rock 'n' Roll Lives". the backcover has the tracklisting and the states-tophits. It was issued by EPE, and pressed by BMG/USA. It is already hard to get, so......good luck hunting.

Loud, Fast & out of Control

Rhino/1999 - PRCD 7451 - USA press

By M.Pathuis

I bought this promo CD about two years ago and it is not something new but I would like to share it with our viewers, and 'till last week it was still sealed, but I had a strange feeling that I like to hear what was on it and broke the seal and put it in my CD-player, and it was really........Loud, Fast and out of Control.... for some reason, the music from the 60's still seems to matter to almost every pop music fan, Jimi Hendrix, The who and the Beatles take their place in record collections alongside The Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana, but somehow the music of Elvis Presley, Buddy holly, Little Richard and Chuck Berry among others, has been robbed of its credibility, through the artificial glow of nostalgia we see an era of happy-go-lucky kids in argyle sweaters, poodle skirts and bobby socks at the malt shop, nostalgia merchants have given this music a sheen of safety and worse, novelty and have made the music of the period irrelevant to todays record buyers.....but if you could go back to the actual '50's you'd meet another group of kids-the ones with leather jackets and switchblades, hanging out in the alley behind the malt shop, what where they listening to?

This CD was made for promotion for the 4cd boxset "Loud, Fast & out of Contol" ..... the biggies - Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fast Domino and Jerry Lee are all on this incredibel 4-cdbox, but they sit, as they once did, alongside such historically neglected greats as Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Screamin'Jay Hawkins and The Johnny Burnette trio. You'll also find R&B artist like Little Willie John, Lavern Baker and Hank Ballard, who stretched the confines of their genre ...... maybe I will put this promo CD with the rest of my great Collection of Elvis Presley CD's, but one thing I know for sure, I will be playing this CD a lot.

Tracklisting for this promo CD: 1. Something else/Eddie Cochran 2.B-I-Bickey-Bi, Bo-bo-go/Gene Vincent and his blue caps 3.  The train kept a-rollin/ The Johnny Burnette Trio 4.
