Thank you, no.
The United States of America have had
forty-six Presidents, but only ONE King!
Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen.
You're a beautiful audience.

Interesting there's a "Help Me (#1)" and a "Help Me (#2), Is #1 the false start and then you have to sit through 4 more songs to hear the master take? Brilliant!

Re: The Memphis Record-1973: Year in Review
Well, I'll give them credit for making it look nice, and, with the exception of some of the home recordings, technically not officially released. Which does make you wonder why FTD wasn't mopping up these sessions last year when they were still in copyright, thus preventing releases such as this.
While part-takes and false starts aren't likely to get pulses racing, the genuine undubbed masters (as opposed to the Our Memories efforts) of the Stax sessions (with any outtakes left in the can to fill up the discs) would surely have made an appealing double CD release from FTD and broken the monotony of soundboards, and been a try at a different attempt at getting the remains of the studio sessions out there without the sessions sets, which, at this rate, won't be complete until the 100th anniversary of Elvis's passing.

Accused of being "a nerd in his 20s." I wish.

Re: The Memphis Record-1973: Year in Review
It's by-and-large officially unreleased material that is now out of copyright. I don't see the problem. Yes, it's all been available on bootlegs at one point or another, but bringing it altogether under one roof seems sensible, and if FTD were putting it out, nobody would be complaining.

Re: The Memphis Record-1973: Year in Review
It's not about the copyright thing but about the recordings themselves. Promised Land? Yes. Thing About You Baby? Big Yes! Love's Been A Long Time Coming? Its Midnight? Honky Tonk Angel? Love Song Of The Year? Not for me anymore.
But the presentation is great!

Re: The Memphis Record-1973: Year in Review
I just listened to this release this morning and what a turd it is.
I kinda like the idea of collecting all the bits& pieces from dozens of releases into one but here they also
have included some real poor sounding tracks so if they had been left out this would be a better release IMO.
I couldnt hear any sound improvment on any tracks so maybe just 1-1 copy of tracks from other boots.
Had elvisalisellers worked on this the outcome would have been great
For new fans/collectors there are some cool takes like Promised Land take1 and Honky Tonk Angel take 3
with that real funny ending but for the rest of us its a big yawn.
This one goes back to the owner today as I have no desire to hear it again.

The ElvisOne guy is pooping out new releases at an alarming rate, using various label names.
Guess he really needs the dough.

That last one sounds odd, but it's a combination of the first two letters of the names of his parents, his brother and his own .
He also uses the label name Victory and one or two others.
