Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
As others said, the mix on Prince From Another Planet is amazing to me. Yes it is not for audiophiles but it just leaps out and grabs you by the neck. It sounds brilliant.

So i am in. But only if it is below 250 euros.Wonderwall wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 6:49 pmIt is the Elvis Shop that say there'll be a separate release, which is a strange thing to do if not true as it's almost certainly going to mean they'll sell less of the book than they would have.tinseltown wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 6:29 pmAnd can we be sure there will be a Blue Hawaii standalone CD release later on?
On the other hand that's the same Elvis Shop who claimed that the On Tour box would have a very limited pressing, and as far as I can tell there's been absolutely no shortage whatsoever.
So who knows...
This will be my first FTD book i buy.
I am not so sure there will be a audio only release later.

I am fine with my 2 double FTD ' s of JR.Josee wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 10:08 pmI’m glad that we already know that there’s going to be an FTD audio only release later this year, so I’ll wait for that. I bought The Making Of Jailhouse Rock because of the audio in sequence, not so much for the books. But I don’t regret buying it as the books are great, not to forget that it was because of the film that I became an Elvis fan. If Jailhouse Rock is re-released in the Session series I will buy it again though.
That's why I skipped the book.
But if you like to buy it 3 times from FTD, more power to you.
Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
Well, some people don't like to buy the material 3 times in 12 years (legacy edition, prince set, now Ftd).......if you count the 90s releases,it's even 4 times.joeroberts wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 10:27 pmOh my god.
PEOPLE there is very, very little left. It is AMAZING to get another chance to listen to these shows (some of his very best of the era) in a new light.
But 3 times already in 12 years.
Some people are fine with that.
Shouldn't be so hard to understand.

But if you don't buy the Jailhouse book, you don't get the songs at a different speed! Surely fans can't live without that!tinseltown wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:06 pmI am fine with my 2 double FTD ' s of JR.Josee wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 10:08 pmI’m glad that we already know that there’s going to be an FTD audio only release later this year, so I’ll wait for that. Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
Thanks for the info. I wasn't too far out then. I'm not saying that the press conference doesn't belong on the MSG set, but to include 20 minutes of spoken word audio on a stand alone disc seems like a cynical ploy to hike up the price to me - unless it's included as a bonus disc at no extra cost - but I really can't see that happening.EAP 35 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 4:54 pmThe runtime of the third disc is 20:31.rockinrebel wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 3:43 pm
How long is the MSG press conference? From memory I'm guessing about 15 minutes. If that's the case, there should really be additional music on the third disc, or it should have been a two disc set...
Re: Blue Hawaii - if the CD audio is released separately I would definitely buy it. I appreciate the work that goes into the FTD book projects, but in the current financial climate, they are far too expensive for me.

Dedicate 1 cd to a 20 minutes press conference.....

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
I'm interested in the MSG set discs 1 and 2. Hoping to finally get good mixes on the 2 concerts. I have no interest in the Blue Hawaii spectacular.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
The MSG shows run about 16% faster than any other show even before anyone touches them.
They could have easily fit both plus the press conference on a single disc and still there would be enough room for rumba.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
I have a new business model for FTD: release shows speeded up 50%, so 2 shows fit on one disc. Therefore less expensive.
And than let the fans slow down the speed via a computer program to normal speed.
They do it already by now.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
NDT have the MSG release as £50. That's £50 for 2 CDs of music you already have, plus a 20 minute disc of a press conference you probably have already seen (or have), and which would have fitted on to the end of either of the first two CDs as a bonus track. In other words, it's basically £50 for a double disc or music we all own.
Yes, it's a different mix. But I'm not paying them £50 for the concerts again because they didn't get the mix right on the last two attempts.

You forgot to count the 70's releases as well. Original vinyl album in 72, then the 8-track tape and then the cassette.tinseltown wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:09 pmWell, some people don't like to buy the material 3 times in 12 years (legacy edition, prince set, now Ftd).......if you count the 90s releases,it's even 4 times.joeroberts wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 10:27 pmOh my god.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
You forgot to count the 90's releases as well; the original CD release and An Afternoon in the Garden.
And yet all the when the time to consider releasing all the Feb 70 material at once comes someone in the conference room is going to raise his/her hand and say: "Who the hell is going to buy that?"

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
I would have liked so much that he released the afternoon concert or the evening concert remixed on vinyl when they released PFAP. At the time, I bought the unremixed double LP from Sony Legacy. FTD is releasing MSG CDs again and I'm not interested. The sound is fantastic on Prince From Another Planet and I don't see how to do better. What do you think ? I have always collected vinyls and cd releases are not enough for me. For the concerts on tour of 72, I contented myself with the double LP but it's a mix of the 4 concerts. It's too bad he didn't release at least one full concert.

The fiftieth anniversary of the February 1970 material is being celebrated by FTD in May 2024.lpa wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 12:31 amYou forgot to count the 90's releases as well; the original CD release and An Afternoon in the Garden.

Shane, please! Who cares about anniversaries at this point anyway. Good grief. Elvis fans by far are the most spoiled, most self entitled petulant bunch EVER. We literally drown in 95% high quality top shelf releases. It’s an embarrassment of riches. If you can’t afford it fine. EOT boxed set: late.
EOT FTD set: Missing in action.
MSG anniversary edition: Late
Aloha anniversary edition: Early.
If 95% of releases were high quality few, including me, would be complaining. But they are not.

Looking forward to a track list for BH. I'm crazy about my JR book and discs. Even though I have PFAP, I still might get this. I'll wait for information from you early buyers!!!

If there was a reel to reel tape release, I missed that.
