Tickle Me

Post by Jesse Garon »

Tickle Me (ha ha ha lol - cut it out, silly - it's the title, not a suggestion)

This is a good Elvis film for a party.

One of Elvis' better motion pictures. The humor, the sexiness, the pacing is wonderful. And the songs! So what if "new fresh" material wasn't written for this; it employs some early 60s Elvis studio gems. What a great one album they'd make compiled.

It's A Long Lonely Highway
Put The Blame On Me
It Feels So Right
Such An Easy Question
Dirty Dirty Feeling
Night Rider
I Feel That I've Known You Forever

Some people wish there were brand new songs in this film. But why? The mandatory composing of Scene-Songs ie clunkers was avoided (a rare decision for sure) by using earlier stuff in his music catalog.

To show some non-fan friends/acquaintances an Elvis movie that captures his eternal coolness, and his natural sex appeal and charm and charisma, his presence with alot of hot babes on screen...I think Tickle Me is a great film for that purpose.

Watch it tonight. 8)
With someone you love, or would love to love.
Or love to tickle.

So who said this:

"Not all those films were bad, and even some of the bad ones come across as quite entertaining on tv - like Tickle Me" ?

Another one serving the same purpose in my book is Live a Little Love a Little! Tickle Me is a close second...

Scott, good call. Yeah, no matter what, it was rare for Elvis to not look cool on-screen (but it did happen a few times in the 60s ie PHS)

Colin - did Elvis himself say that?

Yes, or words to that effect.

And the young lady in those micro-mini-shorts doesn't do any harm, either !

There were nine songs in the movie, not seven, you left out "I'm Yours" and "Slowly, But Surely."

I wish Turner would get this out on DVD!

Yes! I was posting this thread as I watched the movie and hadn't got to those songs yet! I would love to have this one on DVD. Full screen too. I have a widescreen version taped off of Turner's satellite channel TCM - and sadly the "strip" of film is very thin and the top and bottom black bands are huge. Not the type of widescreen I prefer.

I too have always had a soft spot for this film, great songs, great looking gals, and E looks good. I just wished that they had included a lot more slapstick, as this would have been the ideal film for it.

By the way, does anyone else think Elvis` miming of the song "Slowley But Surely", was the worst mime job he ever did? When i first saw this film as a kid in the 70`s, i thought Elvis just could`nt be bothered to lip synch properly.

It's not necessarily Elvis' fault !

Things are messed about with no end in post-production !

There is another reason that Tickle Me is an entertaining film. Let's see....what is that reason?

Oh well, I'm sure I'll think of it eventually.

Following Warner's Elvis signature collection a few years back, there was a rumour that Tickle Me would be featured in a second wave of releases.

It was tentatively set for January 2005, and was also expected to include: Girl Happy, Kissin' Cousins, Stay Away, Joe, Charro, and Live A Little, Love A Little.

Did anyone ever hear any further news of this release?

I can think of plenty more uncomfortable ways to spend an hour and an half than looking at Jocelyn Lane...
