Apple TV+ does not include King Creole. It can be purchased or rented through the Apple TV app, though. With Apple, it's all a bit complicated.

Re: World Premiere of King Creole 4K digital restoration
Hi there!! .
Me neither!. It´s quite sad that "Todd Morgan" (EPE Director of Public Relations for Elvis Presley Enterprises) is no longer with us, he really cared . He was very persistent on having Elvis´68 Comeback Special & Aloha From Hawaii Deluxe sets released by EPE/BMG back in 2004 . Bye for now .Ryan73 wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2019 3:50 pmToo bad there isn't someone in place akin to Ernst who would take up the task in preserving Elvis footage and making it a priority. If streaming would be a way to 'test' the marker, I'd be at least interested to see how one well restored clip from say the Dorsey show would do, or even an outtake from On Tour. Quite truthfully, copyrights aside, I don't think EPE has any such interest in investing money on its own for such projects.
Source: https://www.elvis.com.au/presley/news/todd-morgan-dies.shtmlTodd Morgan, Graceland's longtime media voice, died inside his East Memphis home Saturday night (March 3, 2008). Todd worked at Graceland since May 1983 and played a major part in the development of Graceland as an attraction and in the many projects produced by EPE that have allowed fans all over the world to celebrate Elvis. He and had long been its liaison for local, national and international media.

Re: World Premiere of King Creole 4K digital restoration
This is getting confusing, for me anyway, but has anybody actually streamed King Creole in true 4k yet, or is it really just 1080P ?
Re: World Premiere of King Creole 4K digital restoration
I just bought "KING CREOLE" 4k on the APPLE APP, it's the REAL DEAL, superb quality!!

Re: World Premiere of King Creole 4K digital restoration
Question for those that have the new KC streamed from iTunes / Apple.
How does it compare to the 47 second sample of Danny having breakfast and chatting with his sister about graduation?
To me the sample does look like the upgrade and not the DVD. That's all I'm able to watch for now while I wait for the new upgrade on Amazon Prime. And I have only see it on the computer so far but it does look really good.

Watching this clip here doesn’t do it justice. But it looks like it never has before. I can’t ascertain if it’s 4k or 1080p but it does have that 3D look to it which is implies 4k ( you may not see that without watching it directly on a 4k TV.

Re: World Premiere of King Creole 4K digital restoration
Many things are called Apple TV:
Apple TV HD / Apple TV 4K - digital media players (hardware)
Apple TV app - media player app (software)
Apple TV+ - subscription VOD web television service
King Creole can be purchased or rented through the Apple TV app or trough iTunes and then watched through the Apple TV app. However, it is not included in the subscription service Apple TV+. The latter only contains original content produced by Apple.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_TV%2B
The film is definitely available in Dolby Vision. My TV showed the appropriate icon, and I could also see the difference to SDR content. I also think that the 4K claim is correct. I haven't been able to compare it with the DVD yet, though, and there's also no HD version to compare it to.
In some places the picture background is a bit blurred. I found this a bit disappointing. Probably this is already the case on the film elements, but now it becomes more apparent due to the high resolution.

Re: World Premiere of King Creole 4K digital restoration
Well, there's no visible damage or dirt, and the black levels are good, so I assume that we're not just seeing a digital copy of the film elements, but that the scan was digitally processed. In this sense one can call it a restored version. What else would have been necessary in your opinion?Memphisflash wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 12:11 pmAnd although the movie looks real good and is a huge improvement over the DVD, it's not a restored movie.

Let's hope that we will learn more about this soon. Maybe there will be a press release for the release of the BluRay.

Its probably just a matter of time before a 4k or/and a bluray rip will be out on sharing sites.

Re: World Premiere of King Creole 4K digital restoration
King Creole 4K is now listed on Amazon Prime as follows. $7.99 UHD rental and $25.99 UHD for sale. That is a pretty hefty price. Any takers? I want to wait to hear more about the disk coming in March. But do I have the discipline to wait? Maybe not.

That’s an atrocious price. How do they expect this to be successful when they overprice it like that.L Ray wrote:King Creole 4K is now listed on Amazon Prime as follows. $7.99 UHD rental and $25.99 UHD for sale. Re: World Premiere of King Creole 4K digital restoration
New titles in the UK are around the near £20 mark, which at todays rate is at the near $26.15 mark.
Toy Story 4 is selling in the UK between £20 and £25, so I'd be happy with KC @ that equivelant price.

I should have been clear that this is Amazon streaming prices only.

Might have been a good plan
Yes, I'd have said it was expensive for that

Re: World Premiere of King Creole 4K digital restoration
Streaming the same price as a hard copy is fairly standard pricing?
Maybe the writings on the wall for hard copies and streaming only will be the future.

Importcds has KC on Blu-ray for $20usd.
Amazon Prime has the UHD 4k digital file for sale for $25.99usd
Doesn’t seem fair does it.

That might be the case. The streaming might be in 4K (and they say that it is) and the disc might be the Blu-ray. But even if that is true, the visual and sound might not look any different. Technically one would be better than the other but maybe not noticeable to the viewer.

I read about several cases on a movie forum (without specifying a certain movie right now) where the UHD looked worse (filtered to death etc.) than the Blu-ray.
Again it's all subjective and since the issues I mentioned were mostly color issues, there is still some hope left in me they do it right in this specific case.

Funny you mention Warner, as this was the first company that came to my mindGreystoke wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 11:56 pmA UHD release isnt the guarantee of a better product purely by existence alone -- but there is and has been titles released on Blu-ray and UHD discs that haven't offered a significant or even any genuine improvement from their predecessors. But there's more quality UHD releases than not, and that's because it's the best format to date for film.luckyjackson1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 11:36 pmI would really love to have just the slightest bit of your optimism, Greystoke Well, we wait and see (or not).Greystoke wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 10:43 pmI don’t have an issue with that pricing. Colour timing issues isn't something unique to UHD, all the same, and this can be subjective from a creative position, depending on what the developers are trying to achieve. Quite a lot of Blu-ray releases have offered variable colour palettes for this very reason, depending both on the source and the developer. Which is and can be debatable, and this can be simply wrong, or not true to the source, as has been the case with some Warner titles.
This said, if a new 4K restoration of any film is worth its salt, it's going to be best appreciated at home on a UHD disc on a 4K screen. And there's been some great restorations in recent years, both for cinema and home presentations. With King Creole holding a lot of promise, no doubt. But, again, time will tell if this is a significant restoration that's presented to good effect on UHD Blu-ray and streaming platforms, and standard Blu-ray for anyone yet to upgrade.
Thanks again for your assessment, Greystoke
