"Pictures made by photographer Norman Bergsma..."
Born in Lafayette, Indiana, Norman Bergsma was a press photographer who worked for over 60 years for the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and finally the Albuquerque Tribune. In his heyday with the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Bergsma photographed Elvis Presley at the beginning of his career in 1958 (sic), the Beatles during their first visit to America in 1964, American presidents, sports figures, political icons, Popes, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, and many others.

Nice find!

If you review the web page, nearly every photo is misattributed and misdated:

Elvis Kicks Up Heels At Park Party
Memphis Press-Scimitar, Tuesday, July 12, 1960

Elvis Presley, who pays dearly for his privacy, forked over $50 per hour to rent the Fairgrounds Amusement Park early Monday morning.

Elvis and a party of about 50 friends ran up a $200 bill between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. The night before (or rather morning) before he chartered Rainbow Skating Rink on Lamar for the group. "Elvis has done this before," said Malcolm Adams Jr., park manager. "We always send him a statement later. We also rent the park to church groups, but they usually come in the daytime."

Adams said only one operator and one mechanic are required to stay on duty, that Elvis and his friends go to one ride at a time. "His favorite ride is the Dodgem," Adams said. "He spent about three of the four hours riding those cars."

Game and food concessions are not kept open. Any noise? "No. They are so quiet that you wouldn't know anybody was in the park," Adams said.
