Miami ran that late. The whole article was originally printed in the LA Times on the 31st, even after the toned down second show. I had transcribed it when I did the page on the Pan-Pacific. http://scottymoore.net/panpacific.htmldavide wrote:Just a couple of lines - have put them in.drjohncarpenter wrote:Cool article, Hopper clearly went to the first L.A. show, on 10-28-1957.

October 26, 1957 - San Francisco afternoon performance. The listing of the numbers performed, and new photo's from this concert, Elvis wearing the Red Wine suit.

Cool shots defintely, but almost $700 they went for and a few were cut up. I wouldn't have expected them to sell for that. The ticket stubs probably helped.

Some more shots are popping up from a '57 show we don't have many shots to begin with - San Francisco.
Appears to be from the Oct. 26 evening show - very cool to see despite the "ebay" paper overlay.
If someone wants to take a stab on the auction, below is the link (better be quick, though).

There was also a one-sheet flyer in that scrapbook that may have been something from the show. One or two of the images on it are new to my eyes:
But ... most importantly, a NEW discovery from this final tour of the 1950s has been made.
In one of the concert shots, Elvis is clearly playing Scotty Moore's 1956 Gibson Super 400:
So, the question is, WHICH song is he singing while playing that electric guitar? None we know of from the afternoon show seem to fit:
Afternoon set list, San Francisco, CA - Saturday, October 26, 1957
List is missing "Treat Me Nice," and one other song.
My guess is Elvis has again pulled out the unreleased "One Night," as he did in Toronto that April.
The sizzling Smiley Lewis cover, cut at Radio Recorders in February but shelved, would see release in about a year, after Elvis had shipped off to Germany.
Anyone agree?

Re: San Fransico,Oakland,LA - 1957 MAJOR UPDATE!!!
I hope no one here bought them or if they did I'm sorry for the price. They were sitting at $66 just before closing so I threw a bid in for $150 hoping it would fall somewhere short of that. It didn't. Having not won I would have rather seen the winner get them for $66
