A visit to the White House and having your photographs taken with the President, one of which ends up being the most requested document from the National Archives, is not what I'd call "out of the spotlight", but that's just stupid ol' me.

the meeting with Nixon was to be kept quiet. and it was until 1972. It was not an official visit or well planned out trip.

Wibi 08 -
I truly believe that Elvis wore 3 suits during this period -
......................................................................................
Apparently, that weekend in January 1971 (from 15th-17th)
there very several celebratory functions for the people who received the award .
but as Elvis (and Priscilla) arrived from LA late Friday evening
they missed the first luncheon.
.............................................................
So, I assume that these pictures below were taken on January 16th
(as they're often identified) during, and after, the luncheon that day.

As far as I know there's no footage of the actual luncheon, but there is at
least a short clip of Elvis leaving there.
.....................................................................
Then we get to the Jaycees award ceremony/acceptance speech, which I believe is later from the same day
(Saturday the 16th) .
..................................................................................

it seems Elvis is wearing the same clothes as on the Saturday's luncheon,
but he already has the Jaycees medallion around his neck... notice also Priscilla, who is wearing different dress than on the luncheon.

Hope this answers ya question Wibi 08

If any one can verify more on this it will be really appreciative - Ty In Advance -

Agreed! That crushed velvet purple outfit and the shades are awesome!
