I presume the gentlemen to whom you're referring is the recently deceased George W. Kealiher Jr.(November 9, 1937 - January 6, 2016).

George was working backstage. Assisting with the musicians. He was a fan of Mr. Young. This was an impromptu photo.

Thank you for sharing your blog, and all the great photos uploaded there. George W. Kealiher,Jr got to meet lots of up-and-coming stars at the Denver Coliseum in 1956, thanks to his friendship with the management at the Rainbow Ballroom in Denver. It allowed him backstage when they booked national acts at the Denver Coliseum. Both of the Elvis-related photos are neat.
