Presley Having Fun In Paris -> June 17, 1959!
During Elvis' overseas army duties, he found some time to leave Germany and have a little off-duty fun. One example was a two-week furlough in the middle of June 1959, when he traveled to Paris. On Wednesday night, June 17, he caught Italian entertainer Torrebruno, U.S. singer Nancy Holloway and others at the Moulin Rouge. Below are some neat backstage candids from this evening.
Holloway was very popular overseas, doing French versions of pop and soul hits, although she never broke through in the U.S.
Most of these images were first published about 20 years ago in a photo journal called "Elvis In Paris." Does Elvis look fazed by all the attention?
(Above two photos, L-R) Publisher Jean Aberbach, Nancy Holloway, Elvis, unknown
(Above, L-R) Unknown, Nancy Holloway, Elvis, actor André Pousse
(Above, L-R) André Pousse, Torrebruno, Nancy Holloway, Elvis
The final two shots do not appear to be from the June 17 visit, as both Nancy and Elvis are wearing different outfits. Notice also Presley strumming Torrebruno's famed classical acoustic guitar in the last photo. One might say the singer "played around" quite a bit during his break in Paris, but I'll leave those stories for someone else to elaborate.
Bonjour!

Stunning Photo's! Elvis looks like He is trying to avoid Ms Holloway's Cleavage .. So cute. Wasn't there a set of English Twins involved in this Trip too?
Did He manage to meet up with Brigitte Bardot ..which it has been written .. is the reason He went to Paris in the first place?
Apparently there is a revised edition of this Book..hopefully with more Photo's and Stories in it.

I saw Elvis live in concert the year before he died. Even then, he was bigger than life, and had amazing charisma. Haven't seen anything like it since, ....until Adam.........Nocturnal 2010

Don't think so.Little Darlin wrote:Did He manage to meet up with Brigitte Bardot ..which it has been written .. is the reason He went to Paris in the first place?
She thought he was 'uncouth' anyways..................
On a technical/grammatical/theological note, when referring to Elvis as 'he' - there is no need to use a capital 'H' - he isn't a deity, you know..........

re
freddie bienstock who was with him in Paris asked EP "do you want to visit le louvre or see la tour eiffel ?" and E replied sth like "no, rather the lido"
in his biography, andré pousse recalled that elvis asked him that a photographer take a picture of him with one of the girl dancers, and A Pousse replied to him "ok but she s not a whore !!!" ( don t ask me why he said that )
the only connection between BB & EP, is that elvis had a poster of "brigitte bardot" in his room during the army

When I was a child I was a dreamer,
I read comic books and I was the hero of the comic book
And I saw movies and I was the hero in the movie
So every dream I´ve ever dreamed has come true a hundred times.

Yes, he was extremely well-known among young kids here. He worked and lived here from 1958 until his death in 1998. Yes, he was an icon for a whole generation of people.drjohncarpenter wrote:It was a kid's show, yes? And very popular and beloved?Spanish_Eyes wrote:Yeah, I have. Many thx DJC!
I have compared the pics as posted from her website with the pictures as shown at an exposition about Nancy's career last weekend in Paris. There is one picture - which is not shown on her website (so there's hope that more will surface") which is new to me:
courtesy : Chris Evans / Jean-Yves Dahyot
BTW: Here's another pic from her websitse, a news article from Oct 9th 1960 - uhh.. a year after the event took place..

I saw Nancy Holloway last Sunday in Paris, she was attending a recording fair and singing and autographing her picture. She's still a 50s/60s icon in France and she definitely met Elvis, which gives her some unusual credits. Among other french " stars" having met Elvis there are Line Renaud ( who also played Vegas and met him again in 1964 over there ) and Mireille Mathieu ( an edith piaf sequel ) who also met Elvis in 1959. There is a pic of her with him both are sat on a tool.
Nope, he never met her. Elvis looked up for her but she was definitely NOT the kind of woman who would have look up for Elvis. She was into movie directors and married one ( among her many weddings ) she would have thought he wasn't glamourous enough. Bardot is some kind of pretentious level headed tough lady... Never get to understand her completely. Quite controversial too...Did He manage to meet up with Brigitte Bardot ..
oh lord won't you buy me a stutz blackhawk, all my friends drive pink cadillacs !
