April 17, 1972
It’s still April 17 as I start this… just barely… but still it is. Been a rough day… the first Elvis show anniversary that my Mom hasn’t been here to share with me once again. Listened to the concert coming home from work tonight, and I felt her presence in the truck with me… just out of sight.
Anyway… in light of the anniversary of my second Elvis concert, I thought I’d just go ahead and throw up all my Dad’s Polaroids from that night for the first time, I think. Even the bad ones. LOL
Hope everybody enjoys them…

In this hard time for you, this concert and the pictures are there to "talk about the good times". Thanks you and you family for all what you have shared and still share with us.
You've never walked in that man's shoes or seen things through his eyes
Or stood and watched with helpless hands while the heart inside you dies
So help your brother along the road no matter where you start
For the God that made you, made them too, these men with broken hearts
Or stood and watched with helpless hands while the heart inside you dies
So help your brother along the road no matter where you start
For the God that made you, made them too, these men with broken hearts

The lights are low too, shining right in his eyes! He has to be careful backing up too, cause the orchestra is right behind him.

I know those cameras, and these shots tell me you guys were CLOSE!
What a spectacular memory, seeing the greatest singer of the 20th century with your wonderful family.
And in the RED "Burning Love" jumpsuit, I mean, come on!
Don't forget any of it. No one will EVER be able to take that away.

And THANK YOU for the share.
Your mom did a darn good job.

Re: April 17, 1972
My Mom wasn’t a fan right then… she wanted the white jumpsuit. She’d get it finally at Fort Worth in June… but we’d have nosebleed seats. Elvis is like 1/8 inch tall in the one surviving Polaroid image I have. LOL

No worries, gilles-tcb… I’ll always share anything I have or anything I discover in the “Rider archives” that might be of interest.gilles-tcb wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 10:28 pmIn this hard time for you, this concert and the pictures are there to "talk about the good times". It’s ok… the cape shot has been online for at least 15 years, with no credit whatsoever. Still, I enjoy sharing my family’s memories and experiences with those who never got to experience what I did.DearGeorgie wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 9:38 pmThese are awesome. Re: April 17, 1972
You’re right, sir. My memories are mine, and always will be. All I can do is try to make others feel even the slightest bit of what it was like to see our hero live in concert.drjohncarpenter wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 9:40 pmI know those cameras, and these shots tell me you guys were CLOSE!

We were very close indeed. My Dad sat on the aisle, and I was next to him. During the intermission, he walked up to the stage corner you see in the photo and it was four steps for him.
There were 10 of us that night… me, my sister and parents, plus two aunts/uncles and their two sons. We took up almost half of Row 3! LOL
I always loved that red suit, and Mom came around after a while. But not that night.

1972 is my favorite concert year and that outfit is one of my favorites from any year.
Count your blessings.
