Lake Tahoe, May 1974
I got this picture filed under the date of May 26, 1974 for the dinner show - is that date considered correct?
It's the only shot of it's kind I have from that date. Others are either b/w or looking like being from a different angle. Are there others shots from that show at this angle doing the rounds?

Re: Lake Tahoe, May 1974
Markus, I've got it dated from 740821 Las Vegas DS. I'm quite sure that I've got it from this forum but I can't find the post for the moment.
You've never walked in that man's shoes or seen things through his eyes
Or stood and watched with helpless hands while the heart inside you dies
So help your brother along the road no matter where you start
For the God that made you, made them too, these men with broken hearts

Thanks for your reply - that's quite a different date and place!gilles-tcb wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 3:52 pmMarkus, I've got it dated from 740821 Las Vegas DS. I'm quite sure that I've got it from this forum but I can't find the post for the moment.
Compared to another shot from Lake Tahoe from May '76 the background appears to be identical with the curtain close to the red-lit screen, so I would still say this has got to be from Lake Tahoe.

I just find one link to a precedent post about this picture. I'm not sure that it is the one where I found it however.

Although the "Elvis In Concert" site doesn't list any of the May 1974 shows as having photos, it does indicate the suit he wore at the 5-26-1974 DS is the one you see in your photo. In fact, it may be the first known example of him wearing it.

In 2017, FTD released a soundboard from this performance on Lake Tahoe '74.

Re: Lake Tahoe, May 1974
Thanks for all your input!
I have that book on the Lake Tahoe shows but it didn't really help me as the pics are not of good quality and rather small.
The suit and the belt are definetly a match with that of the shot I posted. It seems as though the curtain in the back of the band/orchestra is closed and that would rather speak against the opening shot being from Tahoe. I still find it strange that it looks so much like it does on the shot from May '76 though and I really don't have any suitable pics from August '74 that show the same thing at the top of the background (which looks to me like a curtain) - although I found something similar in a Vegas picture from September '71.
The microphone on the pictures from the Tahoe book seems to be different from the one in the opening picture. Then again I don't think it looks like the one with the rubber band (?) on the windshield that can be seen on a number of pictures from summer '74.
I'm still not fully convinced on August '74 in Vegas although I see that more evidence seems to suggest so.
Again thanks to all for your input.

Re: Lake Tahoe, May 1974
It's definitely Vegas, the position of the tape on the mic is the giveaway, in Tahoe the position of the tape on the mic was much lower.
And about the curtain point, you can see the same curtains in the background in Vegas too.

Re: Lake Tahoe, May 1974
Good catch. But Tahoe has similar curtains.

Re: Lake Tahoe, May 1974
The best way to differentiate shots from Tahoe and Vegas is the positioning of the tape on the mic.

Re: Lake Tahoe, May 1974
The picture from Vegas '74 you posted is good enough for me as evidence, Elvis2000. Thanks for that.
I still feel, that the microphone looks a bit different in the photo than in most othe rVegas shots but that may come down to the quality of the picture or other factors. I will correct this in my files and will go with tthe date Giles suggested.

On the "Elvis Presley In Concert" site you can see the same curtain type at shows taken around the same time.

Re: Lake Tahoe, May 1974
I've never really seen that earlier curtain thing for Vegas (with the exception for that September '71 pic I mentioned earlier), only ever for Tahoe so this is really helpful. Thank you.drjohncarpenter wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 12:31 amMarkus K. wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 8:09 pmThe picture from Vegas '74 you posted is good enough for me as evidence, Elvis2000. Another picture in which you can see the curtain well.
