Throwing a scarf into the audience 1977, Des Moines
Friends,
Found a few weeks ago this photo on Ebay, l like these photo's with the great interaction between Elvis and the fans.
Also very curious about the photo's from the guy in his blue shirt
The photo is taken by Danny Bolen
Has anyone an idea about the venue, band in blue?
And maybe also in better quality?
Enjoy the photo!

I did a quick correction of the perspective and a slight color adjustment - I hope you don't mind, Ed?

My guess is this is from 5-25-1977 (Rochester). Thanks as always ed40.

I knew I have seen it before, but not in color. Doc, I think your guess about Rochester can't be correct for different reasons: a) Sherrill Nielsen wore a sleevless outfit in Rochester.; b) from that point of view you would expect to see that ugly wall with that even more ugly looking curtain that is so typical for the 1977 photos of Rochester; c) The Sweet Inspirations wore a different stage outfit - my guess is that their outfits have been white - in Rochester they wore yellow ones.
My guess is that the photo from the original post could be from Cincinnati on June 25, 1977. At least on this day, Sherrill Nielsen wore a dark blue long-sleeved stage outfit and the Sweet Inspirations wore a white outfit that would also match the original photo. It looks like that the person behind Elvis - which had to be JD Sumner - wore a red outfit, which would also speak for Cincinnati '77.

Wow, you have some photos there!
However, Cincinnati's not right, either.
The next best possibility is from just a few days before . . . 6-23-1977 (Des Moines):
And the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines had a much lower stage:

However, Cincinnati's not right, either.
- stage is too high, all those fans in the eBay example are really close to stage level
- Elvis' mic does not have any black tape marking on it
The next best possibility is from just a few days before . . . 6-23-1977 (Des Moines):
- Elvis' hair, combed back over his forehead, matches
- There is a wide black band on his vocal microphone
- The band wore the light blue outfits here as well

Dr I think your spot on mate I would say 6-23-1977 (Des Moines)
Another thing you can do is listen to the show audience recording of Des and I would imagine them photos are taken during Love me listen for the crowd going bonkers and this will also give you a little hint into what show it is...Must be early on in the show as Elvis hair is still good and not messed up

Re: Throwing a scarf into the audience 1977
It definitely is Des Moines. I'm almost certain that this is the photo the guy in the blue shirt took less than a second earlier.

Regardless of where it is, that's one of the best scarf tosses I've ever seen.
The United States of America have had
forty-six Presidents, but only ONE King!
Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen.
You're a beautiful audience.

Have always thought that this scarf toss belongs at least in one of the top three:

Re: Throwing a scarf into the audience 1977
Let me amend my earlier comment.
I believe it is Des Moines because I remember it being captioned as such in a Bill Burk photo book I no longer own.
The more well known photo, and a couple others, ran on the wires after the show in Providence.
Young elvisjock, on the eve of his twelth birthday, sat only a few feet away. We breathed the same air, baby.

I did a bit more color correction and tweaks from Markus' photo...

That way it looks a bit like a slate from an 8mm film.
