Re: New picture for me !!!
If this is legit, than that's fine and would be new to me as well. Somehow I have a strange feeling about this one though. Hopefully somebody can shed light on the origins of the picture.

Re: New picture for me !!!
I believe this is an AI-manipulation, not a genuine photo.
It's based on sessions from September 4-6, 1956 with legendary 20th Century Fox portrait and still photographer Frank Powolny. I uncovered his name and work with Presley a few years back, and posted about it here.
But nothing like this shot has ever surfaced in print media from the 20th Century Fox dates. If you study Powolny's long history of work at the studio with their stars, such a pose would not likely be encouraged, anyway.
More importantly, an internet search turns up nothing, save a LOT of clearly AI-filtered known portraits. God, use of the software is hideous.
The true prints from the 20th Century Fox sessions are the best, whether black and white or color. One of the color shots ended up on a 1959 RCA LP, uncredited of course. Management shenanigans, of course.

Thank you so much for your input, much appreciated!
Your points made in regards to the image being ai created mirror what I was feeling. Also a big thank you for the reminder on Frank Powolny and his work. I had forgotten about his name and it was good reading about him.

Re: New picture for me !!!
This image cannot be found on the internet. Not anywhere. Not even a cropped version. This was a major factor in considering the possibility it was a manufactured portrait.
Assuming it's genuine, it's likely a black and white print of a color negative made by 20th Century Fox photographer Frank Powolny, as in the two examples posted above.
How did it end up in your archive?

Re: New picture for me !!!
It certainly appears legitimate in your upload. I guess we can assume that there are an underground network of Elvis photo collectors who possess images not seen anywhere online or in print media, not unlike the same for rare audio collectors.
Lucky you!

This is another shot by by 20th Century Fox photographer Frank Powolny you cannot find anywhere.
Maybe we should get you to publish a photo journal.

Please note:
The photographer research on FECC was posted in December 2011, the portrait site page went up circa September 2015.

Re: New picture for me !!!
The Powolny pictures were all printed in the massive Lorentzen book from 2018 titled The Reno Brothers.
"As head portrait and still photographer at 20th Century-Fox, and a predecessor company, from 1923 to 1966, Mr. Powolny captured thousands of stars in photos that ended up in newspapers, magazines and theater lobbies around the world. His subjects included Janet Gaynor, Tom Mix, Shirley Temple, Lana Turner, Gene Tierney, Humphrey Bogart, Bing Crosby, Jennifer Jones, Joan Collins and Ann-Margret and, of course, Elvis Presley."

And of course FECC was credited for uncovering the information about the identity of the photographer, yeah?
