Claude, thanks for the photo, the ID, and the request for confirmation!

Elvis Presley was an explorer of vast new landscapes of dream and illusion. He was a man who refused to be told that the best of his dreams would not come true, who refused to be defined by anyone else's perceptions. This is the goal of democracy, the journey on which every American hero sets out. That Elvis made so much of the journey on his own is reason enough to remember him with the honor and love we reserve for the bravest among us. Such men made the only maps we can trust.

Nice to see this photo again, it's been posted here before. But the woman to Elvis' left has never been properly identified. It appears someone just decided to call her "Barbara Leight"? Where did you get that name?

Now, in the 1970s, the singer did quietly date model and actress Barbara Leigh, but she was born in 1946:

I really dislike the tendency some have on the internet to just make up these kind of things.

Even the official Eddie Fadal site lists the woman as "Unknown Fan":

The full credit should read:

Wish we knew her identity, she's really pretty.

This little report made the local paper after the Waco show.

Fadals Host Elvis After Appearance

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fadal of 2807 Lasker Avenue held open house for rock' n' roller Elvis Presley Friday night after Presley's show at the Coliseum. Presley, members of his band, and movie star Nick Adams were there. Fadal said there were plenty of extra guests there, too, after teen-agers found out about the party.

"They were all around, peeking in through the windows," he said.

He said Presley was there about two and a half hours, served as a disc jockey playing everybody's records but his own, then took off for Houston.

Elvis the disc jockey, that's a new one. Pretty cool.

Here's another version of the photo, from the Getty Images site.

They claim we see "Anita Wood" with Presley. That's pretty funny because they did not meet until July 1957.

A participation trophy.

It's not actress Carol Nugent. She isn't quite a visual match, and much shorter than the mystery woman.

More importantly, the historical record shows she did not meet Nick Adams until April 1959, and they married less than a month later.

Actor, Actress Wed in Nevada

HOLLYWOOD, May 13 (UP) -- Actor Nick Adams and actress Carol Nugent were married Sunday in Las Vegas, her mother said Tuesday.

The two had planned a big wedding later, but Adams recently made a deal for a television series which required moving up the wedding date.
