Fantastic photo, taken on the day he went to pick up his 1957 BMW 507 with its 1958 US Forces in Germany plates already mounted. Too bad it doesnt show but a tiny bit of the BMW 507. Here is one of the photos taken that day., showing exactly the same background.

https://scontent.fmga3-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/274426966_7128521207189097_6217950880506198241_n.jpg?_nc_cat=100&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=0debeb&_nc_ohc=v7HuwCNrceMAX89SEma&_nc_ht=scontent.fmga3-1.fna&oh=00_AfArv-PmJTxG-utKEVLFtBpnaUEGUzGT7w0LI24MRlIcIw&oe=649E8B65

But this below is certainly the best photo from that day, the only one ever taken of the BMW 507 which we are SURE had to have been taken by Elvis himself. Proudly standing next to the now priceless BMW 507 with the 70079 chassis and the already installed 1958 A-1499 US Forces in Germany plates is Elvis ' pal, from their Ft Hood days Rev. Reverend LaVaughn Moody.

Incredible how, in spite of this being a US Base, they even have a soccer pitch there, although of course when the photo was taken, West Germany which had just conceded the World Cup to Brazil, at the 1958 World Cup held in Sweden. was still a power house team, landing on the fourth position in Sweden, after being the campions back in 1954.

One more photo from that same day

Many things wrong here.

First, the eBay photo on this topic is almost certainly not from "the same day" as the photos you link.

(All fall anywhere from late December 1958 to late January 1959.)

PFC LaVaughn Moody did not become a minister until after his army service was completed.

As I've asked more than once in the past, please stop posting unverifiable or plainly wrong information.

It's not cool.

Below is a photo I just found that's definitely from the same day as the one shared by ed40.

You can see more of his newly-leased BMW, too.

To anyone who knows the poster who corrected me, please let him know that he fact Moody didnt become a Reverend until later does nor preclude me from referring to him as what he later became. If I say, and this is an example, here is a photo of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. when the photo I am enclosing, or annexing, or attaching, is a photo when he was young, it is uncoool to correct the person because he didnt say, "the future to be Reverend Martin Luther KingJr. Incidentally, I wrote the comment KNOWING full well that this particular poster would cast doubt and play the role of a professor chIding a child, as he invariably does, So, once more, here is the late great Reverend Moody, AFTER he had become a pal of Elvis.

Even when I say please this guy just carries on and on . . . derailing topics without a care.

It's not cool at all.

Also, please tell the poster that I dont need any photos of the 1957 BMW 505 chassis 70079 as I am the current holder of the greatest collection of photos from the car, before, during and after Elvis used it. I have them all, it appears. Not even the lady who found it has as many, nor does the BMW Group.

And this thread was about a photo, from the Army, with the car being seen, by an expert like me, so there is no derailing. The BMW 507 was PARKED in between the three guys who appear in the photo and whoever took it. Even the mirror can be seen.

The same poster keeps repeating that Elvis signed a lease, yes, yes, yes, but then does not inform us readers in its comment that Elvis bought the car before he left Germany.

German is NOT my sixth language, so I would let a friend of the poster translate this for him, namely an internal report from June 1961 ( when the 507 model had almost caused BMW to go bankrupt, IN FACT THEY STOPPED PRODUCTION IN 1960, WITH ONlY ONE UNIT BUILT THAT YEAR FOR A TOTAL OF 252) informing its then stock holders, more than a year after Elvis left Germany, that the EIGHT more celebrated OWNERS of a 507 had been

i) the then sitting King of Greece,
ii) the then Prince, future King of Belgium,
iii) the only sister of the Shah of Iran,
iv) the then Prince now nephew of the Emir of Kuwait,
v) and vi) the top tenor in Italy, Mario del Monaco, who we now know gifted another one to top car and motorcycle world champion John Surtees,
vii) producer and actor John Derek, then married to Ursula Andress and
viii) Elvis Presley.

The word MIETEN is nowhere to be found in the memorandum.

The photo is cool also because the man standing next to Elvis, to his left, is Moody. LOL. But I stand to be corrected, as the photo of the BMW with Moody standing next to it, had to have been taken on another day, same week, it had to be, as Moody is dressed to kill, and in the photos with Elvis next to him, he is dressed just like the rest. Unless of course he arrived, dressed to kill, then posed with the BMW 507 with its installed plates, then changed clothing there. But after zooming on the name tag and seeing the last name Moody, I realized my mistake in automatically stating there were taken on the same day.. And I am not sorry, ed40, since this whole matter led to my finding another photo of Elvis with Moody.
