Re: Recording Session April 27, 1960
Once again, thanks a lot Mike.
Over the years, we got quite a few of these pictures, but I still discover several I haven't seen before. And how thrilling they are. Elvis rehearsing in studio, surrounded with some of the musicians he made history with, at a time his voice was at its very best...wouah !
Too bad Duddley Brooks is so rarely captured behind the piano by the camera. And so is Scotty Moore. I always wonder what song they are rehearsing in each picture. I tried sometimes to enlarge the picture in which Tiny Timbrell reads his sheet music, but the titel of the song is impossible to be decrypted. Can only guess that they are working on Wooden Heart when Elvis is obviously laughing while singing...The sentence "Muss ich denn zum Staedele hinaus" must have made its effect !

This series of images were used in the book Elvis From Memphis To Hollywood, using the original negatives, and for the photo you mention, I was able to see the music chart, and in this case the the song is 'What Is She Really Like.'FRENCHGUY wrote:Once again, thanks a lot Mike.

Abundance of goods does not harm, but in this case I must confess I didn't remember that these pictures were all in your fantastic book, Davide. Even though it is one of my all-time favourite books, as well as the other four you made, in your own name or in collaboration with your pal Pal. Sometimes your memory gets weak...
I really wish you have another similar project underway, the early sixties being my favourite Elvis period. And your books are real dreams come true, with their well documented stories or the fabulous and countless photos. A delight !
Anyway, thanks a lot for bringing the key to that specific pix, it's great to know he's singing What she's really like ! I really appreciate.

Exciting news. I can't wait for my copy of Elvis: The Man & His Music to reach me in the next day or two to see what the new book is going to be about.davide wrote:Thanks for your kinds words - yes all the books are with Pal…the next one is nearly finished, ETMAHM mag should have some info which is out in a few days.

I see I forgot to mention my source for these photos. I have them from the eBay movie-material-store:
http://stores.ebay.ca/movie-material-store/_i.html?_dmd=1&_nkw=Elvis+Presley+G.I.+Blues
Have a look there, many more photos are to be found in that section. Just a few examples from the G.I. Blues period, which I shared before in another thread:
