Exactly 56 years ago today.
On February 5, 1960 a battalion of tanks returned to Upper Palatinate, Germany.
Elvis arrived long before the military convoy. In the town Hirschau
they had to stay in anticipation of the remaining troops.
The news of the visit of Elvis instantly spread throughout the area: in four hours he signed autographs at diner Goldenes Lamm,
playing snowballs with local children, and the district newspaper reporter Josef Andreas Mueller, who lived there, used the occasion and all this photographed. He was poorly informed about Elvis Presley, but following the journalistic instinct followed the rural youth, who knew definitely who was in their village. Teens enthusiastically helped Wolfgang Houschka interviewing Elvis, as well as pose for photography.
