I love this film footage!!!!!.............yes imagine if fans saw the same movements on the Aloha Special............................there would be even more fans addicted to Elvis I'm sure!!!!....................he was wild and loose.............I've seen this footage in a better quality..................I absolutely love it and there are some other '71 footage that rocks your socks!!!! Elvis was never better in 69, 70 and 71.................started slowing down in '72.......but that doesn't mean I don't love him then........................

Re: Houston Nov. 12, 1971 - Professionally (?) shot footage
There are so much great up close film from that tour. It seems that one or two had some VIP-access to film so close. I doubt that this is pro film, but it is clearly an insider with a good cam. Any stillpictures behind Elvis on the front rows will possible give some answers, but I haven't seen that from Houston in 1971.

And Salt Lake City 71 which is filmed almost in the same position no shakes same mannerAxeman wrote:If I'm not mistaken, the Houston 71 film was shot by Sue Weigert, who was seen in "That's the Way It Is". Allegedly she had permission to film. She was a long time regular "gate-fan" in California in the late 60's, and saw Elvis many times in concert.
This is only what I've heard, I'm not claiming this to be fact.

Re: Houston Nov. 12, 1971 - Professionally (?) shot footage
Sue Wiegert was the one who filmed all this Great 1971 november tour and many many others Concerts tour and Las Vegas concerts she is in California and filmed also a lot of candid in Beverly Hills Elvis house
Sue was very close to Elvis you can see in TTWII interview with is cat, Sue is on the left
Due to that, she had certain privileges , which lead to her being able to film this concert relatively unhindered.
some of Sue footage are avaible in Behind the image Dvd s

I'm not convinced Sue Wiegert filmed this footage. The skill level involved leads me to believe the cameraman was Tinkerbell.

Re: Houston Nov. 12, 1971 - Professionally (?) shot footage
J.M Gargiulo has filmed only Las vegas summer season footage between 1969 to 1974 and some footage from August 27th - September 8th 1976 tourale wrote:Pete Dube wrote:I'm not convinced Sue Wiegert filmed this footage. The skill level involved leads me to believe the cameraman was Tinkerbell.

Re: Footage 1971 and 1972 - new to my eyes...
He does not say it could have been outlawed.loldrjohncarpenter wrote:This is incorrect. Film and audio show Elvis and his manager do answer the question.ElvisInNorway wrote:It is not only Houston, but several concerts from November 1971.Rockin_John wrote:Well this wasn't shot on 8 mm was it!?
The way the camera keeps focus while zooming in and out. Anyone know more about this footage from Houston?
Go to the Press Conference in June 9 1972... "Professional" filming from November 1971 (Boston to be specific) are asked about, but not answered by either Elvis or Tom Parker.
Regards
WHat happened here is that when the media asked about "Boston" they were actually referring to the show covered by MGM almost exactly two months earlier, in Buffalo, New York on April 5. From their point of view, why did the movie company not wait and film at the more prestigious Madison Square Garden?
To allow, to what, dear?
Why did MGM film your concert earlier in Boston [sic], when they could have filmed it here?
I don't know, that's a good question. Why is that, Colonel (laughs)?
[Parker] I didn't hear that. What's the question?
She said, "Why did they film the concert in Boston, they could've filmed it here."
[Parker] To film it here, it could have been outlawed.
Here's the video for the above:

That is not what he says. People are hearing wrong. Nowhere there does he say outlawed. he says they wanted to spread it around. meaning the filming.

Great footage, but I think he might've overdone the movements - at least in some of the songs.
Re: Houston Nov. 12, 1971 - Professionally (?) shot footage
Agree, most noticeable on Lovin' Feelin'. He really displayed tons of energy on this tour, although it was probably not all natural energy. During the preparations for this tour the incident with Paige Petterson took place and his carelessness reached new heigts at this stage. An absolutely stunning tour nevertheless. Maybe his best.Pete Dube wrote:Great footage, but I think he might've overdone the movements - at least in some of the songs.
