What an interesting find!

The photo may date to January 1962, when Elvis was vacationing in Las Vegas.

I knew little about Tina Robin, but it turns out she was a moderately successful '50s-'60s pop singer.

March 19, 1996 | By MARY C. WILLIAMS Staff Writer

Tina Robin, a popular singer and comedian on the condo circuit in Broward County, died unexpectedly on Saturday at her home in Cooper City.

Ms. Robin's husband found her slumped over in their kitchen. The cause is thought to be a heart attack.

"It's such a shock. She was in good condition. She'd run four miles a day," said Sam Klinger, her husband of 39 years.

The diminutive Ms. Robin, who stood at 4 feet 10 inches and weighed 82 pounds, stunned audiences with her surprisingly powerful voice. Her energetic performances so delighted viewers that they nicknamed her "the little dynamo," her husband said.

"When she sang, you thought that you were listening to Ethel Merman. She had a big, big voice," said Phyllis Green, who befriended Ms. Robin after a performance last season.

"She also did impressions, comedy, and dialect. She made people happy."

Ms. Robin, who was born in New Jersey, began her national career at New York's Copacabana. She sang at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas and appeared on the Ed Sullivan Johnny Carson shows.

She recently performed at Bailey Hall on the Broward Community College main campus for the Holocaust Memorial and was the entertainer at a benefit luncheon for the Transplant Foundation of South Florida, sponsored by the Leading Ladies organization.

Ms. Robin, who had just completed a tour of Century Village condominiums, was scheduled to open for Dom DeLuise at the Resort's International in Atlantic City in May.

A memorial service for Ms. Robin will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Radisson Aventura Beach Resort, 19201 Collins Ave.

Interesting that the article refers to Elvis as a "living legend". I wonder if this is the first time in his career that he was given that title.

BTW, it appears Tina and Elvis may have been in a shoe shop -- note all the boxes stacked behind them.

Hey, I just found this article written by Tina Robin about Elvis. It appeared on the June 1962 issue of Teen Life magazine. The picture of them together I think it's the same one already on this topic but reversed and edited.

I think you´re right Doc.
Tina Robin appeared with Red Skelton at the Sands on December 21, 1961 and Elvis is supposed to have gone to Las Vegas on December 22, 1961.

Tina also appeared with Red Skelton at the Sands on June 28, 1962 at which time Elvis also was in Las Vegas, this time with Priscilla.

The add for both shows were the exact same.
