Jimmy's Blues by Jimmy (akaJames) Burton (1965 ; B-Side 45)
James Burton is a legend. He has played behind Ricky Nelson , Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison among others. In 1965 he was trying to start a solo career, and it starts here with this early release, Love Lost. The flipside is a fuzz killer, Jimmy's Blues, but this side is fantastic as well.
Most people have never heard this record or even know it exists, so enjoy this rare early James Burton record, while he was still being called Jimmy.

This Rolling Stones' mega hit was about the southern slave trade in the southeastern U.S. prior to the Civil War. In this original HIT MONO MIX, you can actually hear the vocals!
They are very muffled in the inferior stereo album mix.

Re: the mono 45's Appreciation topic
this here is the 1967 original mono mix of "Somebody To Love" by Jefferson Airplane together with the stereo master. Listen to the stereo version and then the mono, in that order. You will hear the "punch."
It's a good example because not only was mono mix "punchy" because it's more centered, but it also doesn't have the reverb that's on the stereo mix.

Bit sad to read the Stones have chosen to never again sing 'Brown Sugar' in any of their concerts. The cancel culture has reared it's ugly head , again.
