Haha, great. Well, the saddest part is that "ALLC" probably will end up on every single "Greatest Hits" package from now on. They even included it in that "18 Number Ones" campaign / box-set.MB280E wrote:Keith, great to see that you too think those two remixes are crap! I agree 100% with! Although I bought E1 and 2nd To None (being curious about the "new" sound quality on the classic songs) I am glad to see that you stayed clear just to prove a point. This really warms my heart, and I really mean that!

Also,
I saw on the MSN Music website this package is listed available for download on Tuesday.
If don't want to purchase E1 and E2 again, you could just purchase the individual tracks that you want in the upgraded sound.

If you bought the DVD version of E1 that would count as 5 times!!What's funny, is that people who just have to have it all, will be buying Elv1s 30#1 Hits for the 4th time already!

RKS took the words right out of my mouth. To just clarify this for Kristian and others who might wonder what this dvd version is all about :
It's E1 as a 5.1 DVD AUDIO with a black insert ,making the cover look different, but with the same booklet as the regular cd.The disvc will not play on cd players.

well, for those of you who wanna know, guess what Elvis goodie my wife brought me for lunch a day be4 release date
You got it...HITSTORY
Anyway, I opened it about 45 minutes ago and I'll admit, the packaging is real nice and the outerbox is glossy and almost tin like. looks good.
Anyway much to my amazement...
all the songs sound absolutely fantastic , but here's the real shocker...
HOUND DOG...no POP
A FOOL SUCH AS I...original Master Take 10 (sounds great )
A BIG HUNK 'O LOVE...original spliced Take 4 insert
RETURN TO SENDER...I've never heard it sound better
SUSPICIOUS MINDS...the flange effect is GONE (sounds like the original 45rpm to me)
THE WONDER OF YOU...The undubbed, unrepaired version first released on 1999's upgrade ON STAGE this sounds remixed to me. the drums sounds incredibly good, especially the bass drum...
that's all I got too so far, but I'll post again after I'm done checkin' out the rest...
so far, I'm very pleased with this release:!:

Good, it's rightly taking on the status of a modern classic. It is a brilliant remix, which retains enough of the original feel to make it an Elvis record. The positive influence it had was huge, considering the unheard of sales for E1 and the worldwide success in the singles charts. Most importantly, Elvis briefly resonated with the young and he retained a significant number as fans. To me, ALLC was one of the best things to happen in the Elvis World since his death. I would agree about Rubberneckin though. Not in the same league.Keith Richards, Jr. wrote:Haha, great. That's interesting TJ.
I was sure that the first 2 CDS would be exactly the same as E1 & 2ndToNone.
But maybe Bendeth's work was licensed only for the one compile - and they have had to go back to regular source tapes as opposed to Studio original tapes.
How can 'Return to Sender' sound better? How odd?
In the recent "Love Songs" compile which was remastered by Vic Anesini at Sony Music, the audio quality of all the tracks was excellent however the songs were all taken from the usual “source tapes” not the original Studio Masters.
They were not the remasters of ‘Elvis 30 #1s’ and were basically the same quality as the 2002 ‘Heart & Soul’ DSD release. A couple of songs (i.e. ‘Hawaiian Wedding Song’) do have a smoother, fuller sound but not that you’d notice without close comparison
So I imagine they'd be doing the same here (so Return to Sender should sound very rough!)
The 3rd CD would only be the tracks off the usual “source tapes” although they might be improved a little.
I'm interested to really compare the audio nitty-gritty.
But NOT interested in paying for the same stuff all over again -
What a quandary!
Cheers

Thanks Rob...
Not really trying to talk you, or anyone else for that matter, into purchasing this release again either, but jus wanted to pass along that Ernst and BMG musta did their homework and listened up on the many complaints we, the Elvis fans, had about the many flaws we discovered on the original 30 #1 Hits disc.
besides, if what I did mention of all the mistakes that were corrected for this set, hasn't at least tempted you into reconsidering, nuthin' will, I guess...
I'm on to SECOND TO NONE now...

jus like I said, it sounds much better, more crisp and cleaner, in that, it's definetely not the same mix that was used on the original E1 disc, and much better than, say, the horrid digital echo Double Features version from the early 90's...PiersEIN wrote: How can 'Return to Sender' sound better?
