Best "new" song after august 1977 part 2
Because of the poll limits, here´s a few more options.
I go for the raunchy "Fool, fool, fool".
Kind regards
Björn

I voted for "My Happiness" but have to admit "Hearts of Stone" was an enjoyable (if rocky) ride.
All great finds....and interesting poll, thanks!

I voted Hearts of stone. That song is so much fun.
Jus listen to that "Cause they'll say no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no..." with that provocative voice of him.
Ohhhh...I LOVE it!

I voted for "It wouldn´t be the same without you", I really like that one and at the same time I would have loved if he had recorded that one again, same way he did "That`s when your heartaches begin" again later and better.

Many great selections on this list. Went with I Shall Be Released -- man, would I have loved to have heard a full-length version of this one....

'X, if you haven't heard it, you should try to track down a copy of a fan-made remix of "I Shall Be Released / It's Only Love." I think it was one "Mike McCoy." It still might be around somewhere on-line if anyone is interested.
You wouldn't think it would work but someone realized that the song can be mated rather safely, so it's a neat listen and makes Elvis' one-liner have a more natural full setting.

You´re right! Elvis sounds deadly serious and fragile at the same time. Someone should have fixed the lyrics like they did sometimes.midnightx wrote:Many great selections on this list. Went with I Shall Be Released -- man, would I have loved to have heard a full-length version of this one....

The producer should have sat up and said, "Hey Elvis is showing interest in a great Bob Dylan track, perhaps I should inspire and convince him to take it to the next level and worry about the publishing later...."dreambear wrote:You´re right! Indeed. It's unbelievable what a lousy system they had going.
In effect, it was a great device to keep Elvis from being relevant outside various hangers on.
I see the Mike McCoy site is down so I can't link to the "I Shall Be Released / It's Only Love" remix.
I have it on disc. Contact me privately and I'll see if I can make it as a file. It's worth a listen and doesn't have any annoying new music added..just nicely blended...
