No way! The greatest orator in my lifetime was Ronald Reagan. He had the quickest wit I ever saw.
Absolutely, Mike. My favourite Reagan line is 'I will not make age an issue of this campaign, I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience':

And lest we forget:

Oh yeah, he was a very wise man. As he always said, he didn't leave the Democratic Party, the Party left him.

But, he and Paul Volker showed us how to tame inflation.

That said, I also enjoyed the speeches of Prime Minister Thatcher. She hit the nail on the head in her final day in Parliament.

Lindy, how can there be perjury if he never claimed declassification under oath? Lindy should read the law.

It's a perfectly logical argument. Try to keep up, Mike C.

She's talking ***if*** they submit evidence, this would be considered perjury. Evidence is considered under oath, right? Ergo, by submitting evidence of declassification, that's considered perjury because of the fact that declassification never took place. Because you're lying to the court that declassification took place with that "evidence," when it never did.

New York AG sues Trump, his children and their company on charges of large-scale business fraud

James alleges the Trump Organization inflated the values of its properties in seeking bank loans or deflated them to pay less in taxes.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/new-york-ag-sues-trump-children-company-charges-large-scale-business-f-rcna48668

New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a sweeping lawsuit Wednesday against former President Donald Trump, his three eldest children and the Trump Organization in connection with her yearslong civil investigation into the company’s business practices.

In the suit, which runs more than 200 pages, James’ office details what it says are the former president's efforts to inflate his personal net worth to attract favorable loan agreements and lists more than 200 alleged instances of fraud over 10 years.

James is seeking to bar the Trump family from being in the office of any New York-based company for five years and from receiving loans from any New York-registered financial institution for that same amount of time. She is also seeking about $250 million in penalties.

“For too long, powerful, wealthy people in this country have operated as if the rules do not apply to them," James said in a statement. "Donald Trump stands out as among the most egregious examples of this misconduct. With the help of his children and senior executives at the Trump Organization, Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself and cheat the system."

James' office said in a release that the former president made fraudulent and misleading statements “in both their composition and their presentation.” Trump made known through Allen Weisselberg, the Trump Organization’s former chief financial officer, that he wanted his net worth to increase every year and used financial statements as a “vehicle” to fraudulently inflate his net worth by billions of dollars annually, the office alleges.

Trump and his company falsely claimed their statements were prepared in consultation with outside professionals, James said, adding that the statements blatantly violated “generally accepted accounting principles.” Those violations include representing that Trump had cash on hand that he did not, ignoring critical restrictions that would significantly lower property values when setting valuations, changing the methodology for estimating such values from year to year and using different methods for different properties even in the same year, and including intangible items when making the calculations.

At a news conference Wednesday, James also detailed Trump and his company's alleged violations of state and federal laws by having “repeatedly and persistently manipulated the value of assets to induce banks to lend money” to the organization “on more favorable terms than would otherwise have been available to the company."

For example, the former president inflated the square footage of his triplex apartment in Trump Tower, she said.

“Mr. Trump represented that his apartments spanned more than 30,000 square feet, which was the basis for valuing the apartment," she said. "In reality, the apartment had an area of less than 11,000 square feet, something that Mr. Trump was well aware of.”

Asked during the news conference whether she would be willing to reach a settlement agreement, James declined to "negotiate in public," but confirmed a New York Times report last week that her office had rejected a settlement offer.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York declined to comment to NBC News on the criminal referral from James' office.

No, it is an illogical argument because she does not know the law. Perjury applies to testimony -- not evidence -- given under oath. Submitting evidence is entirely different. The judge alone -- prior to entering it -- will determine whether the evidence is relevant and permissible under the applicable rules of evidence. If found to have veracity issues, it will be excluded.

Lindy's parents should ask Princeton for their money back -- she has the logical reasoning of a toddler.

Try to keep up, Brian. And, whatever, don't take legal advice from non-lawyers. Shall I send you my bill for this piece of legal advice?

Hmm, one would think James would have had the alleged victims of such fraud on the podium next to her if it were so clear cut! But, no, they were not there. And, she brought a civil suit -- not a criminal one -- after all her work.

I'll give you one good reason why she made her announcement today. She is losing in the latest polls to her Republican challenger. Uh oh!!!

She even refuses to debate him. Given the skyrocketing crime in the City and the State, the voters of New York State should send her packing for malfeasance.

The *logical* side of the coin assumes that the attorneys will use said evidence IN testimony GIVEN under oath. Ergo, something like...

"We argue that evidence a, evidence b, evidence c, is proof that Mr. Trump declassified these documents."

This testimony would be false and considered perjury because Trump never declassified the documents. Assuming said dubious evidence ever makes it past a judge's approval.

No bill necessary for dubious legal advice not requested, thank you very much.

Attorney do not give testimony as they are not put under oath. They make arguments. If they make an argument in bad-faith, at most, they will face sanctions by their bar. :facep: :facep:

You just provided a classic example of why it is best to check with an attorney when it comes to the law.

Now we know why the raid took place. And, look, there's the declassification order -- it is in writing and spells its out exactly. No doubt, the DOJ lawyers deliberately omitted this from their warrant.

Only stupid idiots who deny Barr's culpability in everything Trump. He isn't and has never been a hero. Just an opportunist.

The conundrum is that Trump's legal team cannot confirm he declassified the relevant docs in question until they can seem them. Why would the great DOJ be fighting so hard to hide them?

The declassified ordered I posted gives us our answer. :D

The answer would be because it's a National Security risk and deemed irreparable harm that would come to allies and intelligence in certain locations.

The DOJ is not political.

The education of Mike C. continues.

Now that's funny! Under the leadership of Meritless Garland, it is nothing but political.

Exhibit A. The FBI and DOJ have been in possession of Hunter Biden's laptop since 2019. From others who have copies of the hard drive, there is alleged to be troves of influence peddling emails, pictures of him smoking crack cocaine with Russian hookers and evidence of minor pornography. And,yet, in spite of a grand jury in Delaware, the DOJ has yet to search his properties for evidence of such crimes.

Reason: Guideline violation. No need to post such things
