Sure is.
Bobby “Red” West was a talented dude. Among other things, he wrote and recorded lots of songs in the 1960s and 1970s, and not just for Elvis.
He first issued his holiday tune on the local Memphis label Brent (named for his son), probably at the end of 1965 It did not chart.
What you hear in this YouTube upload is Red famously singing guide vocals for the song at a scheduled RCA Nashville session the following June, a date that Presley blew off.
The complete backing track was done with Elvis’ overdub a few days later. Listen closely, Red is still there, buried in the mix. The recording will not likely see the light of day on FTD.
