You shouldn't just pay attention to how people treat you, but also keep an eye on how they treat others. A good principle.

Great topic. To my ears it does sound like Freddie Bell sings 'that was just a line' and it makes more sense to rhyme line with mine. I never ever knew that or spotted that lie/mine is not a pure rhyme. As a songwriter I love these geeky little details.
