"Anything That's Part Of You"
A beautiful ballad B-side to "Good Luck Charm". Recorded October 15, 1961 at RCA Studio B, in Nashville. Steve Sholes credited producer, with Bill Porter engineering and Elvis Presley's hands-on producing.
According to Ernst Jorgensen, Elvis seemed prepared for this number, but this did not prevent him from working hard on it. Floyd Cramer copied closely composer Don Robertson's slip-note piano style to perfection. Elvis has impeccable phrasing and performs a very convincing reading of abandonment and desolation. On first listen, Elvis seems to follow Robertson's singing. But Presley's phrasing in my opinion, is more delicate. And being 1961, his voice was simply magnificent!
Pleasel listen to the word "search" (as sung by Elvis), compared to the demo.
I love it!

Re: "Anything That's Part Of You"
When it came to ballads Elvis was a genius. And here another song of proof to that fact. This song and others such as "They Remind me Too Much Of You" most certainly must have had his mother on his mind during these recording sessions. They are sung with such devotion and perfection it makes you wonder.

Top notch Elvis, that is for sure. Another B side I prefer over the A side!
Re: "Anything That's Part Of You"
Sublime - Elvis with a voice as sweet as a half-pound bag of sugar, and such a beautiful simple arrangement - just sublime
This is one of those that makes Elvis one of the greatest vocalists that ever lived!

Fantastic song ! One of my favorite, I have sweet memories from the end of the 70's, listing it in my home, when I was child !!
Very sad never performed live... I think it will be very welcome on stage in 75 or 76...

Maybe the pinnacle of Elvis' balladeering. Just a marvelous performance. Would not be welcomed by me at a 1975/76 concert. He wouldn't have been able to do it justice and I doubt he could have done it as well in 1969/70. It certainly would have been different.

One of my favorite early 60's tracks. Breathtakingly, heartbreakingly beautiful.

One of my all time favorite 'B' side. I actually enhanced the 'A' side. Only a handful 45's had these perfect coupling off two music styles on 1 single. To name a few; Hound Dog/Don't be cruel, Stuck On You/Fame and Fortune and Suspicious Minds/You'll think of me.

Atpoy is probably my favorite of the whole Elvis's catalogue. Perfection caught on tape, song-wise and performance-wise. Juan Luis, thanks for the link to the demo, it was really interesting to hear what the song sounded like in its bare bones format. Very good actually.
What is that by the way? Looks very much like Felton Jarvis gone to army?Mike Windgren wrote: P.S: What a cool avatar you have Juan Luis! .

The United States Marine Corps? In 1954-55. The photo? Early to mid 70's, going by the TCB Concert I.D. badge he is wearing on his uniform.Mike Windgren wrote:Hi there!! .

A lovely song, as most of Don Robertson's songs are. A beautiful melody which Elvis sings so very beautiful. I love line "take a ribbon from her hair, a breath of perfume lingers there".
