I love Wolf Call.

Post by Eggrert »

First, for the record, I want to state that I do NOT believe that Wolf Call is a "classic." I don't think it's "great." Heck, I don't even think that it's "good." But I love it. It's catchy. It's fun. And sometimes, that's all I want from a record.

Same here. Although this one isn't one of them for me. Glad you like it and share it! ::rocks

When u cant say anything good, dont say anything at all, so I wont. BUt I am curious. Do u enjoy Wolf Call more than the great records that were on the charts at the time simply because its Elvis?

It is not necessary to compare to the great records that were playing at the time, unless you were alive and old enough to be aware of it. And that would not take any effort.

Unless one pretends or "needs" to be a scholar, and has to study the charts to appreciate music that comes naturally, I can be more objective when listening and liking (with little bias), music that was out there before I was even a thought! We can just listen, and like or dislike! Sorry, I am not going to feel or have empathy for, the "pain" some still still whine about 50 years on!

I was a weird kid to some, when I was listening continuously to Elvis in the 1970's (that meant acquiring from [donations LOL, and allowance for raking the yard, taking out garbage, washing car] and enjoying soundtrack albums as well as regular RCA, Pickwick, and Camden ones)... while my friends were all about (off the top of my head at this moment): KC & The Sunshine Band and "That's The Way", Get Down Tonight", "Silly Love Songs", songs by David Bowie, Bee Gees, Springsteen's "Born To Run", disco "Fly Robin Fly", "Do The Hustle", slow stuff "Feelings" (yes the kids liked it believe it or not) "I Write The Songs", more disco "More, More, More" (Andrea True connection) Donna Summers' "I Feel Love" (embarrassing in front of parents LOL), a song called "Convoy" (sounded like Cash but wasn't! ) etc.. I liked that music a lot. But enjoyed Elvis more. I guess I was a rebel! And many of us still are, around these parts! :)

Just trying to think of the bootleg that first featured an alternate take of 'Wolf Call'.

The sound quality wasn't good but there were different lyrics if i recall.

Quite sure it was on one of the ' Kid Galahad sessions' Lp's from the 80s.

Yes, I think that is correct.

I think it was not a different version but the unedited master with an extra verse from a scratchy acetate on the bootleg.

Horrible, embarrasing song.

It's the other way around. I love Elvis as much as I do because I love songs like Wolf Call. And though I'll concede that the likes of Satisfaction, Help!, etc. are "better," I get more pleasure from listening to the Girl Happy soundtrack.

Is that part of a pack or does it come separately?
No it doesn't. I just thought I'll share a sheet music with this extra verse...
