Elvis recorded the fabulous song Suspicion in march 1962 and was included in the Pot Luck Album.
The song may be the greatest from this album and I listen to it quite often.
Terry Stradford released another version of this song in 1964 and became a hit.
Personally I like the Elvis version more because of his voice and the song's cool beginning.
I have two questions:
1.Which version you like more and why?
2.Why was not this song released as a single in 1962? It may have reached number 1 position on US charts.
Thanks,Chucky.
1. Elvis is a better singer than Terry Stafford, and his arrangement is more dramatic, so I prefer the original recording.

That said, Stafford's single (Crusader 101) is very good indeed and well deserved its chart success (Billboard "Hot 100" #3, April 11, 1964, Cash Box "Top 100" #3, April 25, 1964). The success of "Suspicion" also proved that a great studio song in the "classic Elvis style" was still viable at retail despite the "British Invasion." But Presley had abandoned studio work for the next two years, a very, very bad decision for his career.

2. The Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman tune was not chosen by Elvis as the single, he preferred "She's Not You."

I have one question:
1. Do you dance to the fabulous song Suspicion?
Do you like to make fun of me?
It's part of his M.O. He might stop once he gets past pubescent humour. Give it twenty years.

I'm not making fun of you. But the humourous comments initially made by Rob, which I later picked up on, were meant to be gentle fun. I speak for both of us that we're sorry if that did not get conveyed to you.

What do you think of the other 95% of my reply? I put some time into it.

Terry Stafford looks hardly tormented while singing the song...

Elvis's version all the way, for me. I think Terry Stafford was actually just imitating Elvis in his version, wasn't he?

No. Terry came up with that style all on his own.

It sure sounds that way.

Hey, Chucky99, you specifically "called me out" almost a week ago, and I very graciously addressed your concern.

You have since visited this topic and I still haven't heard back. Why?

Instead of dragging up yet more confrontation a week down the line, how about being an adult and letting it drop.

It's always nice to have answers to clear up confusion, that way, both sides can be at ease... well, sometimes anyway.

Ignore the troll. My post had nothing to do with "dragging up yet more confrontation." A gracious reply to a question of concern should be acknowledged, not to mention a fabulous post that adds to the original topic.

Another solid effort and I am sure it would have had solid chart success if it had been released as a single from the Pot Luck album. Elvis' version, as opposed to Terry's version, does not sound as outdated (those silly girls' voices sound like children and definitely date the song).

Its probably just me but I cant stand the instrument aka noice that occur every 3-5 sec....very noticable during the first part of the song.
Apart from that the song is great.

You must be talking about the vibes fill done by Grady Martin. I think it's the perfect touch.
