Elvis's Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits - Vol I
Today, I received the Elvis collection (only the first volume): "Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits" on LP! I was expecting them because a relative of my Dad passed away and the set was given to me. These are the only things I have of Elvis's music that are original. I don't plan on parting with the set at all but I was just wondering:
How much (if anything?) is the set worth??

That's a nice box set to have Tony. Does it contain the photo album?
Re: Elvis's Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits - Vol I
It came with one photo album, but two versions were issued.

This may give you an idea of how much the set may be worth... depending on the condition of course:

Is the set the first pressing or a reissue? Orange label or tan label?

Yes, there are even pictures about those wardrobes published. The first time I saw those pictures were volume 2's CD box set's booklet.matilda wrote:Does anyone believe that the piece of material in the envelope of vol.2 actually contains really clothing from the wardrobe of elvis?
Update: Here is a link to one topic which handled this case: http://www.elvis-collectors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=33165&hilit=clothes+envelope

Re: Elvis's Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits - Vol I
I was told at the time that the pieces of cloth were from bolts of cloth used to tailor make clothing for Elvis, not taken from clothing he had actually worn. All the pieces I've seen fit that description, i.e., no seams, zippers, buttons, etc.
Yes, there were photos at the time of clothing being prepared for cutting, so perhaps some pieces are authentic, but more likely those were publicity shots designed to give the illusion that if you purchased the box set you would get a piece of cloth from clothing Elvis actually had worn.

Re: Elvis's Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits - Vol I
The labels on the records (all there) seem to be tan in color. Sadly, there's nothing else there as far as items of cloth or anything. Just the LPs in their sleeves. I wish that Vol. II had been included as well but - alas, it's not.

Only the first edition contained envelope with a swatch of cloth and a poster.Tony Trout wrote:Sadly, there's nothing else there as far as items of cloth or anything. Just the LPs in their sleeves. I wish that Vol. II had been included as well but - alas, it's not.

The tan- coloured label is a re-release from around 1975/76.

This is a great find. Thank you for sharing. This quantifies the maximum number of swatches that may have made it to production. They are less common than I would have expected.VEGAS74 wrote:Sure, I included the letter from Ms Ria Ruiz that sold the items to Mr Kereta...

Re: Elvis's Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits - Vol I
I just acquired a mint still sealed copy of "Elvis's Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits - Vol I".
It's the 1971 orange label pressing with Flexible vinyl. The booklet is the one with Elvis in a blue jumpsuit on the front.
I quickly played a little bit of the vinyl last night with headphones. When I listened to "I Got Stung", I was surprised to hear a lot of echo on this track, it almost seemed like it was "Electronically Reprocessed" Stereo.
Can anyone advise on this?
