We Call On Him

My mother-in-law (Lyn) passed away on December 21st... at her funeral the following songs were played (during the funeral itself)... the family was brought in to Rhinestone Cowboy - by Glen Campbell (one of Lyn's favorite songs)... then we all sang Good Luck Charm (along with Elvis' recording)... followed later in the ceremony by The Wonder Of You... then we closed the service with We Go Together (from Grease)... that's how Lyn would have wanted it. Needless to say, Lyn was a huge Elvis fan... she got to see him in concert on July 13, 1975 in Niagara Falls

The Bullfighter Was A Lady. It moves me like no other and I know it will do the same to others at my service.

Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.

Bridge Over Troubled Water.

I asked my wife first and she sid the same song! she's not what you'd call an Elvis fan, but it was Elvis' version she wanted.
I then told her it was my choice (live aug 70).
For a follow up it would be My Way from June 77.

Or Karen Carpenter, We've Only Just Begun.....

Suspicious Minds. Studio master with overdubs. Maybe the mono version so the whole church or mourning hall will be shaking.

At my mom's funeral I played "His Hand In Mine", "Mama", "Fountain Of Love" (her favorite Elvis song) and "I Will Be Home Again" (another of her favorites, even though maybe not quite fitting - but then almost nobody understood the lyrics anyway :D  ).

I still can't listen to them darn songs I mentioned without getting some issues.

But then the version that consists of a great combination of outtakes (I think it was Takes 2 and 3) that Johnny2523 spliced and posted quite a while back.

Might I say it seems so fitting?

I bet Rob won't even let anybody allow to play Elvis at his funeral, but either "Why Me" or "Sweet Sweet Spirit". Performed by Conway Twitty.

It’ll be 2075 (I hope to be 100 years old) so they can play the new release of 2075: Hampton roads 72.

You can't let Elvis die twice? Well the guy managed two funerals! :D

At least if he keeps dying it means we must have been keeping him alive

Hello elvisjunkie, thanks for commenting :)

Well, I thought that would be sort of a humorous note in my funeral, wouldn't want it to be too sad, to lighten it up a bit, to declare that "Elvis has left the building", implying that I was like Elvis :D

But I will take your suggestion into consideration. Anyhow, I'm only 51 so I'm hoping I don't have to plan my funerals any time soon...
