Elvis Songs at Your Own Funeral - What Do You Want Played

#1298612

Post by sherrlon12 »

I know this may be a tad morbid but have any of you ever thought about having an Elvis song or two played at your funerals, and if so, what do you want played? I like the idea of playing If We Never Meet Again and Bridge Over Troubled Water, and maybe Memories and For the Good Times.

My Mom was an Elvis fan and although she never said she wanted Elvis songs played at her funeral, I had them played for her. We had "Miracle Of The Rosary" and "How Great Thou Art" at her rosary and we played "Where No One Stands Alone" and "Take My Hand Precious Lord" at her funeral. The same with my Aunt a few years later.

What about Old Mcdonald? :D that should bring laughs to everybody! (altough.. honestly... i can enjoy it in the movie, clapping along at times, because of the beat to it)

I've requested "How Great Thou Art" (original LP version). Yes, my family members know to which version I'm referring.

Well, I played "That's Someone You('ll) Never Forget" at my mom's graveside service. The combination of the actual howling wind and the ghostly vocal arrangement was eerie. People asked for the lyrics later. I was kind of "out of it." But I made sure to do that.

At mine? "Peace In The Valley." Sums up what I hope I accomplished here, and my hopes for humanity.

something rousing.......to follow 'my' coffin in to.....Bosom ofAbraham/Run On/So High/Joshua (depends on how long it takes to get folk seated, and how old I would likely be...might be no-one left to attend;-)
How Great Thou Art in the service...will be a cremation, so quick service, no church for me
then another 'rouser' for folk to walk out to.....Little Sister. don't want anything morbid

You'll Never Walk Along & the Platinum version of Bridge Over Troubled Water (although my SO thinks they're both a tad too dramatic for a funeral service).
