I don't want to bitch or complain , but I feel a bit saddened to see that Ernst chose not to use the title My Baby's Gone.
As a collector I have always loved that title . Probably in the vain hope of finding a SUN d.j.copy of that title. I guess it
was just an urban myth that finally has been shattered.
But I keep wondering , what was the source for it when it appeared on a European single and on the Bopcat lp in the early 70's ??

Getting 3 CD's full of Sun recordings from 1953 to 1955 from Elvis Presley is a blessing.
Thank you Ernst Jorgensen for all your hard work you have done to provide this to the fans!
+1
Lots of rather silly questions being asked here where the answer should be, "How in the hell would anyone know that ?". Admittedly there are some here 'in the know', as there are on other websites and I am grateful to read some of those comments.
It seems to me that we are being given every last fragment that exists of the studio recordings. What more could anyone possibly ask for ? Also the tracklisting given is accompanied by a lot of supplementary information which should answer most questions. For those who are unable to afford the book, I do hope a more affordable release of the CD tracks will be made in the not-too-distant future. Until then why don't we all wait until the product is in the hands of some Elvis fans on this board and then start the questions ?
Don't get me wrong. I've enjoyed the intrigue these past several weeks. But let's quell some of the speculation now that the product is nearly upon us. As regards the Sherif Hanna comments, let's stop jumping to conclusions or making judgements until we know all the facts and circumstances (if ever). Generally, I agree that these items ought to be shared but there may be other sides to the various stories.

If not slotted for the FTD SUN box, that's a bummer indeed. There's a bit of a sad story involving the acetate, but at least the performance survives."
Apparently "Little Mama" on "Boy from Tupelo" is from March 5. Is it a new "discovery"?

Acetate.
The story can be found on P. 557 of Bootleg Elvis.
The guy that found the acetate was Cees Klop (a Dutch fan), in a storage place at the back of Tom Phillip's shop, 'Select-O-Hits', in Memphis. This was probably in 1969. Tom was Sam's brother.
The storage place was, "in the back of the shop with lots of reel tapes and some acetates, rotting away, as this small place was not completely roofed".

If that's really you on the profile pic, TCK_KING? I'd welcome you round my house anytime and i'd be quite happy to point out the ones that are unreleased.

RKS, isn't the set supposed to be released in mid-to-late August?
Its being released 16th Aug, that's the official date...and it's not gonna be delayed, either.
That's the information given over at Elvis The Man And His Music facebook page.

svallen wrote:Why is not "Million dollar quartet" not included?
Because Elvis had been an RCA recording artist for a year when that informal session took place in December 1956. It's out of scope for the project.
That doesn't wash.
Sure it does, ColinB.
svallen's question is silly. The focus of the set is Elvis' "SUN era"... 1953 - 55.
The recording from December 1956 has no justification to be included on this new set any more so than if a tape was discovered last year of Elvis jamming at SUN Studio in 1971. As TJ said, "It's out of scope for the project."

I don't know exactly what he means by that, but it looks like we're gonna' be in for a lot of little pleasant surprises on this set!
It's the intro. It was clipped since the first LP (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
Great news and makes me even more pissed that I don't have the money right now... Man, I can only wish for a non-limited run.
It's an easy repair. Such as what I managed:
Based on the way Keith Flynn worded things I don't think he's talking about a "repair" as such.
billyblues wrote:I think there's more to the intro in the project than repairing. Maybe an opening chord? Or maybe it's just the "well, well" in its full form...
I agree!

This is all very exciting. I didn't read through all 5 pages yet but disc 3 holds the most interest to me as I'm sure it does most. Although disc 2 has some interesting stuff too.
They just keep finding more and more stuff out there. Another version of Hearts of Stone. 1:37 and 2:02...
The 2:02 version is the one we have already so I'm hoping that they cleaned-up that bad boy some more. I'm curious about the 1:37 version considering what was said about the quality. Little Mama sparks the most interest. Fingers crossed on quality.
I have confidence that no matter how good/bad the quality is, the folks here at FECC will clean it up even more.
134.00 is a little high for me... If they priced these things a little better, I'd bet they'd sell more. They are obviously going after the die hards who will spend anything on these releases (Supply & Demand). I'm sure the restore cost money plus Ernst’s time but keep it under 100 bucks and you might profit higher. Just my opinion.
Does anyone know the release date? It just said the end of July which is Tuesday.
