And I have received the SONY cd I AM AN ELVIS FAN, and their is an insert, that states the following:
Prince from Another Planet; 3 disc set, with disc one an two remixed versions of both shows, and a 40 minute DVD, also available soon, the MSG Legacy 2 disc edition with original sound remastered. So we will the choice of both the 3 disc remixed version, and the 2 disc original remastered sound edition.
Smart move.
This way Sony have covered all bases, pleased everyone, and given us all a nice varied option.
Of course, I can imagine many of us on this forum will buy both versions. I know I did when they released "Young Man with the Big Beat" and the "Elvis Presley: Legacy Edition". At least this time around it would make more sense to, because we will be getting different mixes.

It is going to depend on how the packaging, presentation and book is designed.
If they follow the template set for "Young Man With the Big Beat", which I think is very likely now we've heard there's going to be a 2-Disc version, then expect a similar price.

so $29 as ekenee guessed probably isn't high enough. YMWTBB was/is around £40 isn't it?

I thought it was more than that.
I'm sure I paid about £60-70 through Amazon.
amazon.co.uk has it for a shade under £40............

The "Young Man with the Big Beat" design hasn't been copied. Looks more like an FTD style classic album in 7" format, just with a bonus DVD.
This looks like a fantastic set, however on a slightly negative note, the advertisement states that 'key' footage from the press conference will be included, I was hoping the complete footage from the press conference would be on the DVD. But still, really looking forward to this release, just wish it was out this month.

Re. this supposed 2 disc Legacy Edition with "original sound remastered" - unless there is an unissued vintage 1972 mix of the afternoon show there is no "original sound".
So wait: does the offical ad now discount the report by Patrick68 saying that there would be TWO versions available: 1) a simple 2 Disc version containing remastered sound and then 2) a 3 Disc version with remixed sound plus DVD?
The ad implies that there is only one version being sold: the 3 disc version.

...and hopefully that means remixed from the original master tapes.
I don't believe there's any other way to remix multi-track recordings. The original MSG evening show (as well as the afternoon show) was mixed down from the original multi-track tape to a master. I believe this would be the same process used by Mr. Brauer to create a new master. Otherwise, the two shows would simply be remastered... as is done with Legacy edition CD's.
I wouldn't normally be interested in purchasing duplicates of these shows - ie. the new remixed shows vs. the new Legacy editions... but in this case it might be worth have remastered recordings from the original mixes if Vic does the work - is it safe to assume the MSG evening show would be the same as what's found on the Complete Masters set?
For those who are confused by the recording terminology being used in this thread I offer the following:
A multi-track tape is the original tape that Elvis and the musicians recorded onto in the studio (including overdubs) and on stage. In the 70's this was usually a 16 track tape. It is this multi-track tape that gets mixed (or re-mixed). It is then transferred to a stereo master tape from which the records are cut. Stereo master tapes cannot be re-mixed, only re-mastered. I hope this helps.
Just as Good Time Charlie pointed out earlier, it's the same thing as Sony releasing the Young Man With The Big Beat box set, along with the Elvis Presley - Legacy Edition release.
