No brainer for me. And I love Rob. But not in a fluffy way. Lovin' Rob is a no brainer too. Just make sure it ain't fluffy love. If you're fluffy you take your damn fluffyness elsewhere. You won't be serenading Rob with Fluff the Magic Dragon anytime soon.

Ever thought about buying it and forming your own opinion? Just sayin'
"Just sayin'" has got to be one of the most irritating texting/internet lingo things going around. Anyway, it is sensible to learn what other trusted parties think about a product when a questionable mixing credit has been touted to be associated with said product. We're never heard an Elvis product mixed by the gentleman in question. It is not like we're getting another Vic Anesini mixed and mastered product where we know the quality of work from previous Elvis titles. Since I would have to import the title in question I would rather be wise with my money rather than hope for the best. The last thing I want is a compressed and bright sounding version of Madison Square Garden. Time will tell.

Just sayin'.

Nice one Delboy. How about " Prince from a fluffy planet" that's got a good vibe to it.

norrie

How 'bout "Druggie from a fluffy planet " ?

Under normal circumstances I would wait for prices to come down if, as in this case, I have the concerts in question. However, the evening MSG show sounds so damn awful, that it can only ever sound better, so a no brainer for me. It will be interesting to see the format of the DVD - will it be a documentary such as that on the Legacy edition of the Folsom Prison shows by Cash?

Now that's funny.

Reminded me of an old Honeymooners episode when Ralph thought he was going to to die.

After a discussion at the table with Ed Norton about selling his story to the newspapers, they were coming up with headlines so Alice could recieve some money after Ralph's, so called, death.

Ralph suggested, "Man, only has 6 months to live ..." (yawn)

Norton's reply: "In 6 months, blimp takes off" ... Priceless stuff.

In North America: we've been fooled by Sony many times, The Complete Elvis and the legacy series were all resold at Pop Market at mid-price sometime later. So I became really suspicious and I tend to wait for now. But I will buy it at some point. Don't rush you all. The old threat of: " it's there now but only for a while " doesn't work anymore. Well at least for me. As for the thing itself: such a douible cd is only doing justice to that spectacular event's celebration for the currant year. I welcome it. By the way, does anyone knows where the DVD's footages are coming from?

I have already said this in another thread: the original release of MSG sounds boring, flat and liveless with Elvis too much up front and audience and band barely audible. One would not say it was taken from multitrack, if it turned out to be a mediocre soundboard I would have believed it sound wise. If this Bauer guy can mix this multitrack into an enjoyable experience like the 1974 Memphis gig - well I am just happy to spend money on this again, which is what I am going to do.

Yes, I am getting the set.

But I don't want to talk about the Cincinnati show any more.

It's funny how we all have different takes on sound quality. I have never thought the evening show a disaster. I believe Joan Deary was trying to capture the feel of a big stadium gig and I think it does that. It might be like being at the back of the stadium but the mix focuses on the core band which I like. If you crank up the volume it rocks. I don't have the Complete Masters but confess to downloading this gig from the web in lossless flac format and the new mastering takes the sound quality up a notch again imo. On the other hand I think the original Memphis gig sounds more like a sb than anything else! I put a disk together of 75 sb tracks but added in Memphis tracks and the difference while noticeable isn't that great.

Having defended the original msg I still look forward to an improvement and different take on a great gig.
Cheers Jamie

Exactly!! Can't imagine anyone here being on the fence for a half a second. I may buy multiple copies just to help push CBS/EPE to release more product like this. BUY, BUY, BUY!!

Tornado, the footage on DVD come from the MSG press conference, and live footage from the shows which were recently discovered from a fan collector in Finland I believe; Jonas Mekas.
And I have received the SONY cd I AM AN ELVIS FAN, and their is an insert, that states the following:
Prince from Another Planet; 3 disc set, with disc one an two remixed versions of both shows, and a 40 minute DVD, also available soon, the MSG Legacy 2 disc edition with original sound remastered. So we will the choice of both the 3 disc remixed version, and the 2 disc original remastered sound edition.

My guess, $29.99 retail.

My fear is that they will be lazy on the DVD portion and present silent footage when they could
overdub the pro recordings they have of the shows.

The short run time also concerns me that it will be a choppy edited piece.

Thanks Patrick68. Got it now! So there will be 2 different sets: an extended 3 discs set: "Prince from Another Planet" and a regular 2 cd set.
