I'll echo that. Hopefully, Ernst has consummated a deal to transfer the wire. I think the story of the discovery is an essential part of it and a special release with photos of the wire recorder, (perhaps amberola 1b himself), etc. is in order. It's not far from Rhode Island to New York and Sony's studios to make this all possible. Assuming, of course, that Sony has the technology to transfer the wire recording, or will get it?

Perhaps someone can talk to him about this I found on the EIN site: "In the promotext for the upcoming 'Walk A Mile In my Shoes' a free promotional CD, featuring the newly discovered live version of ‘I Forgot To Remember To Forget’ should be included." Will the have the brutality to release it before Ernst does?

I fully understand DJC's arguments, that those who were there, are not always the most reliable. That's because we are merely just human beings, who pass through our lives on a day to day basis, not remembering every detail about every day as if it is a major historical occurence that will be discussed 60 years down the line.

This is my point, which some here have seen as yet another opportunity to put me down rather than a valid consideration in regards to the discussion. Such off-topic rancor really gets old.

What I do object to is the way he's taken this argument to a personal level, as if he's trying to prove that Scotty's recollections cannot be trusted, as if he's just a senile old man. It's hurtful and untrue.

Scotty himself is on record as saying his recollections are not always to be relied upon, and I deeply resent your accusation that I was implying Scotty Moore was senile. I have never written comments like that in my entire history as a member of this forum.

Having lost my beloved grandmother to Alzheimer's Disease, and dealing with my mother currently dying from the disease, I am acutely aware of the pain and helplessness in dealing with this awful condition.

I'm very, very sorry to hear that, Doc. I have an aunt (by marriage) who is currently in the early stages of suffering from it, and it's a very awful, and terrifying thing. My prayers are with you and your family.

I too am in the minority that thinks that it is Elvis saying "Ah ha" in the recording. It is okay to have a difference of opinion since there is no known footage or witnesses available to prove otherwise.
There are plenty of examples of Elvis saying or singing something off mike while performing.

I have bought the lot from an Elvis fan. It was in the lot and I didn't buy it for the wire recording.

I have bought that 10 years ago but it doesn't matter when I bought it.

On the wire recording it's wrote Elvis and I am almost sure it contains Elvis.

Of course it can be erased and replaced by something else but I really doubt because he was fan.

I can also contains something without any impotance but it's sure it's something from the fifties because there was other recording system after that.

I think also that's it's worth to try to listen to it.

The problem is the voltage and the HZ.

there are transformator to convert 240 V to 110 V but the problem is the 50 Hz as it's a motor that turns the roll, the Hz have their importance.

If it's only a question of speed, it can be corrected by soft.

Hi Phil, is there any chance of showing us a pic of the wire spool with the "Elvis" annotation written on it?

Sorry, I don't know how to put picture on the forum.

In fact I have 3 wheels, On the firts it's just wroten Elvis by hand, on the second it's wroten Oldies and on the third it's wroten empty.

I have found a recorder and it work's fine except too slowly because of the difference of Hz.

On the Elvis wheel it's Elvis but nothing important. It begins with Heartbreak hotel incomplete and then Heartbreak hotel by an imitator. After it's again elvis but not live, just studio songs and after some songs put together.

On the oldies wheels it begins with blue suede shoes after some oldies but I haven't heard all the wheel.

The empty wheel contains some test, that's all.

So nothing important in the wheels.

It surfaced far too late to make that project. T'was ironic indeed.

No idea what, if anything, is going on with the original source of this wonderful performance, but there's no doubt that the innocent YouTube upload -- and capture by many fans -- of the complete song substantially lowered its value. And this had to have bummed out the owner.
