It really is a superb find and a pleasure to hear.
I guess it won't be possible to pin down the date for sure. The presence of Buzz Busby means it's not before October 1, but it can also be several other dates, including the following week.
i wouldn't rule out November either. Logan's comment about the song doing “remarkably well across the country for the past several weeks” would make an October date more likely if going by the song's release date, but it didn't make its country chart debut until mid-September, and wouldn't hit all three country charts until early November.
The most important thing is that Elvis sounds great and we have another rarity to enjoy.

Is this on the new Sun FTD set???
Think its probably Hayride radio not TV though, what you think?
TCB, Shaky
What a beautiful performance. It's definitely an authentic Lousiana Hayride radio broadcast.
We first hear Buzz Busby and the Bayou Boys, then Horace Logan introduces Elvis, Scotty and Bill. Logan indicates the song has been doing well for weeks, which would place the date to one of these appearances:
10-01-1955
10-29-1955
These were Elvis' only two Hayride visits that month. My guess is the audio clip is from the earlier date, Saturday, October 1, 1955 -- six weeks after the release of Sun 223, and Buzz Busby was the featured guest that evening.
And just thankful to hear this is actually authentic!

Re: I Forgot To Remember To Forget (LIVE) 1955
Hi there!! .
This confirm what I said before on another topic . The track listing has not been revealed before because Ernst Jorgensen after 10 years of hard working on the set was afraid that somebody could make a quick buck before this set comes out . After all, this Sun boxset which primarly was a book project it doesn´t turn out how it should be, the audio will be as important or more that the book!.This is truly an amazing find, it is magnificient . Bye for now .

Re: I Forgot To Remember To Forget (LIVE) 1955
I just hope this dont get Ernst discouraged, it is very unfortunate that this leaked after the book is ready and i'm sure he feels that way aswell.
But theres always opportunity to get tracks like these, and release on future FTD releases, because they deserve it , and so do us fans,
and many that don't have forever to wait around for.
But from what ive gathered regarding Ernst comments, it will NOT be on Sun book.

Re: I Forgot To Remember To Forget (LIVE) 1955
If the new CD set has been pressed, perhaps Ernst could include it as an extra CD "single" packaged like an old Sun 45 and still include it in the FTD set. Just a thought.

Re: I Forgot To Remember To Forget (LIVE) 1955
Here's a thought - not gonna happen, but a thought - on how to get it onto the already manufactured FTD set.
They could send out a replacement disc of one of the CDs with the track included as an unlisted extra track. Sort of like when the 'Fool' and 'So High' releases featured replacement discs due to errors, this one could have a replacement disc due to the sheer miracle that has occured,

Re: I Forgot To Remember To Forget (LIVE) 1955
What a great find for the 35th Anniversary! Whats so great is the sound quality. It's great to hear Elvis singing a slow song like this, hearing this you can hear why people got hooked on him and his fame snowballed.
And as said before it's nice that it's been shared with us,the fans.Others who have un released stuff should look at this and realise how much pleasure it brings to us and stop being so greedy and selfish.

That would be a great idea mate
The main point is that Ernst gets this tape and bring it out on FTD !!

Re: I Forgot To Remember To Forget You (LIVE) 1955
yeah, i HOPE its not on tupelo because that means theres not just one new version of this track but now twoBill Tanner wrote:I don't think it's too important this audio isn't on the set. The set will include all known Sun audio up to the book going on sale officially. There was always the chance there was going to be more recordings unearthed after the release of the book. So what? It could have been unearthed a year later, a week later or whatever.
I think we should just celebrate its existence, and if Ger is right and there's another 'Forgot' unreleased on the Sun set, then we're getting two new versions! Happy day!

Re: I Forgot To Remember To Forget (LIVE) 1955
Amazing find. Let's hope that there are others like this of this same quality and that somewhere there are other tracks like Rock Around The Clock, Hearts Of Stone, Only You and more.
What a treat!
I wonder how wealthy the guy that released this is? I think HE deserves financial reward for discovering this and not just someone who is going to rip the track and put it on their unofficial release.

If there's one there's probably more waiting to surface!! Very odd though that this has just surfaced before the imminent Sun book?elvisonline wrote:Amazing find. Re: I Forgot To Remember To Forget (LIVE) 1955
amberola1b, the poster on YouTube, posted this when asked if he had more Elvis recordings:
"No, I actually found this by accident. I actually bought two spools of wire that were labeled Gabriel Heater, who was a W.W. 2 news correspondant and I thought it would have audio by this person on them, but they were recorded over with country western music recorded on them. And in the middle of the spool was this clip although incomplete as it may be from the show Louisiana Hayride, and it`s got the whole Elvis performance on it."
Also, when requested to contact Ernst Jorgensen, amberola1b posted: "I'll see what I can do."
My thought is Ernst should acquire this for a future project. I'm sure it's far too late for inclusion in "The Boy From Tupelo." I'm sure there are other "attic" artifacts out there, but sadly some may never be found.
It's a great day to be an Elvis fan!

Re: I Forgot To Remember To Forget (LIVE) 1955
This is UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe this was found. There is absolutely NO mistaking that it's Elvis Presley.
This version is quite literally out of this world. I can't believe it...I just can't believe it...a live version of this song!!

Re: I Forgot To Remember To Forget (LIVE) 1955
The staggering thing is that not only was it recorded on wire (a process that many will not even have heard of) but that someone actually had a machine to play it on !!!! This guy has got to be an instant hero to all of us.
Looking on the bright side (who said there was a gloomy side ? ), and as someone hinted above, if it was already on the Sun set then we would have one less new track to hear.
Good to see Ernst's reaction. It truly is a beautiful performance. I think his shock and disappointment will dissipate in the days to come and I don't think the discovery of this performance diminishes his work one iota. In fact it almost launches the book by the amazing reaction to a new recording from the Sun era - free publicity of a sort, even if it is not part of Ernst's project.
Mention of the word 'hero' should remind us of another hero - Ernst himself.

And, of course, if enough 'goodies' like this turn up, we could get The Boy From Tupelo - Vol.2 !Steve Morse wrote:...Looking on the bright side (who said there was a gloomy side ? ), and as someone hinted above, if it was already on the Sun set then we would have one less new track to hear...

Now let's hope some good investigation will be made concerning the "source" where he got the tape!!!He bought this from a guy that maybe have some more not even knowing it....fingers crossed.MysteryTrain wrote:amberola1b, the poster on YouTube, posted this when asked if he had more Elvis recordings:
