Gone is the racist talk.
Wishful thinking. The idea that Elvis stole black music is pervasive, albeit still a minority view. That minority delights in spreading BS and negativity, so it's not going anywhere.
And now the pedo talk is growing. There truly seems to be a group of people determined to destroy Elvis' legacy at any cost

Well, in Argentina, they dont seem to give one hoot. Here's the latest attendances. Now over 60,000 in four days, which means almost a half a million bucks to add to the Latin tally. Mexico leads with US$1.7 million, followed by Brazil with US#1.1m, all in those same 4 days

At domestic #BoxOffice, biopic #Elvis grossed solid 1.3M on 4th MON, with excellent hold dropping just -21% from last MON. #ElvisMovie hits a 107.9M cume. TONIGHT it’ll beat #Dune’s 108.3M domestic run as WB’s #2 highest grossing film of pandemic era. Eyeing a 130M-140M US run

Just checked my local Vue Cinema, and there's nine screenings of "Elvis" tomorrow ! Great to see its still so active.
I'd like to see it for a 3rd time before it disappears from our screens.

I looked at advance ticket sales tonight at a local cinema. Elvis has sold 67 tickets so far. Thor has sold 63. It has to be great word of mouth. :)

Hello,

I found this very interresting article which I totally agree with. What are your thoughts about it? Here is a small presentation and direct link taken from a twitter feed:

Just checked the local cinema I referenced last week and it had gone down to 2 showings a day last week but as of this Friday 22 July goes back up to 3 and stays that way until 28 July. On 29 July one showing scheduled but the only other 2 scheduled are Thor and the new 'Pets' film. It is a 5 screen cinema. This is quite telling as it is obviously doing enough business to go from 2 back up to 3 daily showings for a whole week. It appears that they are hedging their bets after 28th but have enough confidence to schedule one more on 29th and I would assume if it continues to do well this week and the next it will get more screenings beyond the 29th July.

Saw it again with 5 family members (repeat viewers), and probably enjoyed it more the second time as I got used to Austin as Elvis, knew what I was already disappointed in and so wasn't saddened by those scenes, and looked at more things I couldn't take in the first time.

It's the most successful adult-oriented film this year that's not a franchise film or sequel. Amazing. I'm suprised, and pleased. We'll get nothing this good again (in my lifetime, I'm sure) unless it's unreleased Elvis footage just screaming for release by older fans.

The theatre was quite full, and I talked with several in attendance -- one wanted to shake my hand because I had shaken Elvis' hand!

Many people don't like when you mess with the original voice actors appearing in the film. That's probably why it tanked.
If that is the case than shame on the public. There was a time when story was paramount and if a film with the same character changed actors it didn’t reality matter.

For example;
Jack Ryan has been portrayed by Alex Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, Chris Pine and John Krasinski.

Batman; Adam West,Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson

James Bond; Barry Nelson, Sean Connery, Peter Sellars, David Niven, Woody Allen, George Lazenby, John Gavin (signed and paid but did not film), Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig.

And other characters played by multiple actors: Dracula, Frankenstein, Sherlock Holmes and many more.

DEH wrote:The box office sites are giving credit to the movie for sticking around as long as it has. Most here did not think it would do as well as it has. Me included. I remember we were talking months ago wondering who the audience would be for a movie about Elvis in 2022. That they had missed the boat. That his days bringing in money were over. That the Elvis brand was dying.
Proves once again that if they make a quality product people will buy. We got lucky that a filmmaker who truly cared and had the clout to negotiate a decent budget and was connected well enough to get Tom Hanks attached was involved.

If Hanks hadn’t signed on I suspect this might not have gotten made or would have ended up very different.

I’m thinking it hits $200m WW by next Wednesday.

What day do you think Elvis will surpass $200m worldwide?

At first I didnt know which country this referred to but it seems it is Spain.

Itv says

3:51 a. m. · 18 jul. 2022·Twitter for Android

So, what this means in English is that in Spain, the Elvis and Top Gun movies are holding on quite well and that they could each reach 3.2m Euros and perhaps 10m Euros, respectively.

So, i looked at what Elvis has garnered from Spain up to today, and it amounts to 2.5 million euros, so what this guy is saying is that it can still add another 1 million euros this week. One million euros is US$ 1,023,655 so that's going to be an important addition.

So yes, i agree that it may reach US$200, but only AFTER the next weekend, to be on the safe side.

The film needs US$201.7 to become the second highest grossing music biopic, globally, in the history of cinema. In fact, it needs US$196 million to become, again, GLOBALLY, the highest grossing biopic about a solo musician, ever.

Yes, I noticed that too, but thankfully, the interview was by remote, so she was able to make it look like she hadnt understood, to give her a little more time to think.
