elvis on stage antics with a stuffed 'nipper the dog'

Post by doug.ie »

It's been discussed before. It's no legend. In those days the United States was very conservative about things like that. If Elvis Presley had done something like that he would've been arrested. 1957 sure wasn't 2020 when it came to things like that. Elvis was also a controversial figure at the time because of his hip shaking. With all that in mind he would've been arrested, taken into police custody and it would've been reported by the media. With all the books written about Elvis it would've been talked about by his band members. Everyone around him would've had a recollection of it and there'd be newspaper reports of it confirming it. Byron Raphael worked as a gopher for the William Morris agency and Colonel Parker at the time. He made the story up just to make some money by selling it to magazine years later. It came out later that Byron Raphael had cancer and was just saying all those things about Elvis to make money so he could afford cancer treatments. He ultimately passed away from cancer. A story like that can be easily debunked and don't believe everything you read. Since everyone majorly freaked out over Elvis's hip shaking back then image how they'd react if he actually did stimulated sex on stage. Alana Nash has a history of listening to some dubious sources. She listened to Byron Raphael which was a mistake if you are going for accuracy.

I think we should keep this thread going as long as possible. I double-dog dare someone to delete it.

Whoever does will have to reckon with me.

There is no newspaper reporting from 1957 that makes the claims in your first post.

Because it never happened.

Why are you doing this?

He would have been quite within his rights to bite 'little Elvis' in self defence. It's usually the dog that shows such unfiltered abandon in mounting virtually anything that moves. How the tables turned that night. God only knows what indignancies the poor basset hound on the Steve Allen show endured back stage.............

Alanna Nash has written several books (plural).

I suspect you haven't read any of them or you would already know that.

The fact is the reviews of Presley's opening concert at the Pan Pacific Auditorium in October 1957 did not mention anything inappropriate with the plastic Nipper mascot which was sitting stage left.

And none of the police officers present arrested Elvis, or filed a complaint.

Why are you wasting our time with this?
