Hi there!! :D :D :D.

Interesting to read on here by different members, all the alternative songs that could have been included on the "Lost Album" ::rocks.

..

The cover released in Europe for the lp was stunning, designed by the late Ger Rijff .

Image
Elvis-For The Asking (The Lost Album) RCA NL 90513, released in 1990.

Wish RCA USA had released this on lp as well, the U.S cd cover is way cool, mysterious...., love it! 8).

Image
Elvis-The Lost Album RCA/BMG 07863 61024-2, released in 1991.

I´ve stated before, if this lp had been released in 1963, it would have been a Top Ten seller for sure . Bye for now :smt006.

In case you missed my postings on the previous site :P

Here is the link to the final (lost) album featuring my sequencing and including the artwork (Source: "The Lost Album", USA 1991).
I punched it up a little more and now I personally think it sounds really good. At least it reflects my personal taste. Hope you like it, too.

Enjoy! ::rocks

Here is a little "remaster" (more punch, more treble) of the Anesini 2007 remasters:

Please let me know which version you like better and which you think sounds better. Thanks in advance.

Hi there!! :D :D :D.

This could be FTD release of the year easily, November is just around the corner.... Bye for now :smt006.

P.S: It looks like we will get finally the unedited Master Take 14 of "Night Life", as included originally in the great bootleg Lp: Elvis-Rocks And Girl Rolls Pink & Black LPM-1510, released in 1986! :smt020.

Ah yes, I have that LP tucked away somewhere with my box of bootlegs. It would have made an even better sleeve than the photo used on FEIM ~ more dynamic.

To me it's nothing but a throwaway but still...

I think since the master tapes are still lost (?) it wouldn't sound any better at all on the new FTD.

I remember how badly this and "Appreciation" sounded on the Ann-Margret box set from Bear Family :?

I'm curious about information about other rejected songs like the song "What a day". The demo version was written by Don Robertson for this movie Viva Las Vegas but it was rejected. His own recording (recorded may 1963) was released in november 1963 on RCA 47-8269.

Three demo songs offered, but rejected for the movie were -

1. The duck, the cat and me - Tepper and Bennett
2. That's how you look to me - Rick Ward and Sid Feller (duet)
3. Please be mine tonight - Bernie Wayne and Marvin Moore (ballad)

`That's how you look to me` is a duet comedy song, along the lines of `The lady loves me`.

Here's "What A Day" from Don Robertson. What a purdy, little song it is. Love me some Don!
I used the YouTube version and tried to clean it a little, since it is obviously sources from an old 45RPM. It didn't work out the way I wanted, as it's crackling pretty badly and wobbles, too.

https://mega.nz/#!0Wxl0S6C!F5SLCnjswwD0ko0-3UQ6ChCnUr7VrW8hQ7AtO1OLN2c

The song could have fitted nicely after the "Today, Tomorrow And Forever" scene.

..

I recall, reading somewhere about the song "Lucky In Las Vegas". Now that would have been something else :D

In my opinion "What a day" is not one of the best songs by Don Robertson. It's good it was rejected.

No details that I am aware of. They will probably firm something up once they have finished getting the Memphis sessions set out which is supposed to be this week for distribution to dealers.

Other rejected songs for the movie Viva Las Vegas released on CD Silver screen treasures 1962/65 vol. 2 CD 5
Don’t fool a fool in love (unused demo)
Sweet dreams baby (unused demo)
This way to paradise (unused demo)

I don’t know if these songs were selected for this movie. Maybe there’s news about it in this new book.
I’ve noticed on this CD 5 a few tracks coupled to the wrong movie like You can’t hate me for that (mentioned for Roustabout but is really pre-selected for Easy come easy go according to paperwork).
Mentioned earlier in this topic “Classy chassis” is wrong mentioned for Spinout on this CD 5 but according to information from Margaret Herrick Library it was selected for Viva Las Vegas.
It’s outside this topic to mention all errors from Silver screen treasures 1962/65 CD 5. Inpsite errors it’s for me still a great release.

Some `Vega` demos - submitted, but rejected for the movie were -

1. The Vega - Joy Byers (listed previously in this thread)(decent song)
2. The Vega dance of chance - Tepper and Bennett - (a pretty weak song)

Edit on which version was previously listed in this thread, Joy Byers song rather than the Tepper and Bennettt.

Thanks - Yes it sounds the same as the demo but appears to be slightly edited on the record release (1:58) where the original demo features a second sax solo almost right after the first (2:16).

According to a re-written page 38A scene 106X4 from the script dated 12 june 1963 a song “The vega” was mentioned by the writer of the script. This explains the “problem” to select the right song for this scene. Finally selected Do the vega (Giant-Baum-Kaye) but later on replaced by What ‘d I say..
