That front cover is the same as the poster I bought the summer of 1976 during our visit to Memphis. It hung on the wall of my bedroom for many years... (note the Elvis Presley - Las Vegas at the bottom)
My brother had that same poster hanging in his bedroom in the 1980s, as well as a companion poster of the same size that appeared to be manufactured around the same time featuring a shot from the '68 special. For the
Aloha From Hawaii one with the "Elvis Presley - Las Vegas" caption, I remember as a teen at first wondering why Elvis was wearing a lei in Las Vegas - maybe a Hawaiian fan visiting his Vegas show gave it to him, or he was wearing it to promote
Aloha From Hawaii. Of course, it turned out only to be an early example of people automatically associating 1970s Elvis as "Vegas," regardless of the context. I had no idea the posters dated back to at least 1976, though. I'm not sure where my brother got them, I'll have to check with him as well as on their whereabouts. ("You want to know where I bought two posters from the 1980s and what I did with them?" "Well, yes, of course, I'm a crazy Elvis fan thanks to you and Mom.")
I later had a close-up of the same
Aloha image hanging on my wall, with a red plastic frame, which was from a local discount store. I also found at a church bazaar the same image shellacked onto wood, full-frame but much smaller size - maybe 8 inches tall. I had them hanging above and below each other in the 1990s. I believe I donated both of them when moving homes at some point.
Regarding the
Hawaii(an) Sunshine album, I had never heard of it, but I love seeing vintage compilations like this. Thank you to jetblack for posting it.
