You are spot-on Doc, in terms of which songs came from the same rehearsals as the others. But I had not seen such precise dates before.

Re: The New FTD Cd's In June
“STAGE REHEARSAL” – From 1970, 1972 en 1973 International Hotel, Las Vegas.
Tracklist:
You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me (version 1) / I Just Can’t Help Believin’ / Something / Sweet Caroline / Polk Salad Annie / You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin' (version 1) / I’ve Lost You / Bridge Over Troubled Water / Patch It Up / Can't Help Falling In Love / You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me (version 2) / You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin' (version 2) /
I dont believe it - what a great surprise - THIS has made my day, my week, hell my month ! NOW THIS IS IT !!!! this is what FTD is all about & what ive been waiting for !
Ernst has come through FOR ME this time !
This rehearsal is not only flawless & a true dress rehearsal before the evenings opening performance, but sounds fantastic , equal to the actual show(s) so whoever was working the desk etc obviously sorted things out from 3 days before which sound quite dreadful considering the circumstances !!! (never understood that ?????)
You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin' is a superb performance, and a personal fav of mine full stop! simply stunning for a rehearsal with no audience (compare it to the 24th july etc - HUGE change in effort)
to top it off he was wearing a lovely blue shirt

im presuming Ernst recently acquired this tape (or a copy) as i understand it went missing & all they had was the <EAP box set > Copys of Loving feeling etc
Ernst, please tell me this wasnt sitting in the vaults ALL ALONG whilst we we're flooded with 76 SBD's !!!!!!!!!
cant wait for this & GREAT to get the other rare rehearsal tracks - would be lovely if they come from a new/better source than we're used too though most likely wont !
Personally (& i know many others will feel different) ill take this stunning rehearsal in multi-track to 100 76/77 SBDS (inc dec 76) and 10 pot lucks but thats just me !
CANNOT WAIT - pre-order forthcoming !!!!!!
one happy FTD camper here !
p.s - i will get the other 2 FTD's but this will be relished & played probably 30 times more (at least)

you've gotta let it go dude, if you dont like it, dont play it !midnightx wrote:It is easy to hear how My Boy had such cross-over appeal.
i happen to dig it - as DID & do MANY others
mainly for personal reasons but also because he generally put his heart & EFFORT into it !
id take my boy over all the throw-a-way Love me's and amen/dive bomb routines !
it may not be promised land & it certainly isnt 'mess of blues'
but its a standout in any post 75 gig !
let others enjoy it man w/out the mockery - its still elvis !
peace & love & all that u know !

Re: The New FTD Cd's In June
Thanks Doc. Are the 1972-73 rehearsals from cassette sources? For the Aug 10 1970 rehearsal material, will this CD use the 16 track source tapes? Or is this some sort of dub obtained from private hands if the multis are missing?drjohncarpenter wrote:nevermind wrote:monkboughtlunch wrote:And what are the recording dates for each of these bonus tracks?

Not wanting to be a killjoy here but why not wait until you've actually listened to sound samples before you give the release such a write-up, let alone buy it ?Z0S0 wrote:“STAGE REHEARSAL” – From 1970, 1972 en 1973 International Hotel, Las Vegas.

Ernst doesn't talk about Elvis' recordings. Send him a pm but do not be surprised if he does not respond.
Finally How can we be sure this won't turn out to be another dubious quality mix-job by Lene Reidel.

i already know the 'performances' to be excellent !
Loving feeling from TTWIW book was in stunning multi-track, so thats sound covered - though as i stated i presume to be from a COPY !
im guessing this tape has RECENTLY been acquired so it will be from the master
multi-tracks so how could it not be fantastic sound !
i wasnt particulary addressing ernst (it was rhetorical) with an expectant reply,
ive been around here long enough buddy to know what he does & doesnt do & get involved in, tho i did get an answer from him once - i wasnt considering PM'ing him at all!
hes a busy man!

Not hesitate but I will actually wait until i am sure this is going to be worth before i buy (for the reason i mentioned in my previous post). It's called patience my friend. I have never seen such a build up on a ftd the way i have read your statement.

Re: The New FTD Cd's In June
The site offers a list of songs, not necessarily recordings.Mike Windgren wrote:So we won´t have the complete August 10th rehearsal?
The dress rehearsal may not even exist in complete form. MGM may have captured some of it on film and mono reels, and RCA some on multi-track.
