Thanks E-Cat, I got that clipping as well and question is who's right and who's wrong about when the photo was taken.

I tend to believe the Memphis Press Scimitar as it is a MPS staff photo that appeared in the paper on August 9 with the following text:
ELVIS' PARTY - Here is the entire group which arrived in the alley behind Strand just before midnight for a special screening of "Loving You" the Elvis Presley film. They are, left to right: Lamar Fike, Cliff Cleaves, Venetia Stevenson, Elvis, George Klein, of 636 N. Manassas, and Louis Harris, of 1954 Felix. Fike and Cleaves both are traveling companions of Elvis' and live with him at Graceland.

Question is whether the photos were taken in the minutes just short of midnight of just after midnight and I guess we'll never know for sure. I've dated mine as August 8 because of the mention in the MPS.

It is interesting to notice that according to AP it is photo of them leaving the theater, while
MPS mentions that they are arriving just before midnight.

Since MPS took the photo I tend to agree with MPS as well.

However, there may be some possible clues in the picture:
Do we have a high res. scan to identify the time on GK's watch ?

Unfortunately my copy isn't of such quality that it can be determined.

No problem, I think Aug 8th is a pretty safe assumption.

Some trivia: Venetia Stevenson went on to marry Don Everly in 1962 and got divorced in 1970

Thanks to all for posting the photos and the additional information.

I'm familiar with the close-up, but the other photos are new to me.
