The Two Kings... Coincidences?

Thu Apr 16, 2009 5:33 am

Whilst Internet surfing I came across this and found parts of it mildly amusing....

Enjoy:

In perusing Elvis’ biography “If I Can Dream” by his hairdresser-cum-spiritual adviser Larry Geller, I stumbled across the following conversation:

Elvis begins: “Think back when I had that experience in the desert. I didn’t only see Jesus’ picture in the clouds — Jesus Christ literally exploded in me. Larry, it was me. I was Christ… I thought I might be him. I really thought I was singled out, not only to be Elvis, but ah.. ” “Elvis,” [Geller] said calmly, “are you trying to say you thought you were Jesus Christ?” Elvis, with visible relief, grinned.

I shook my head in disbelief. Was Elvis really that out to lunch? If he was going to compare himself to a religious figure, why not try Buddha? At least they had the same body type. But, as I read further, as I dug deeper and deeper into Elvis lore, I began to notice bizarre affinities, strange parallels — inexplicable similarities between the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and the King of the Jews. At first they came to me slowly, but soon they were jumping off the pages. Coincidences? Perhaps?

Here's a few more I found by Googling Elvis & Jesus, there's a whole page

dedicated to the subject & these are the ones that are missing from your

topic.

Jesus walked on water. (Matthew 14:25)
Elvis surfed on water. (Blue Hawaii, Paramount, 1965)

Jesus made reference to a Canaanite woman, saying, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." (Matthew 15:26)
Elvis made reference to a woman, saying "You ain't nothing but a hound dog."

Elvis first recorded with Sun Studios, which today are still considered to be his foremost recordings.

No one knows if Jesus had a middle name.
No one was really sure if Elvis' middle name was "Aron" or "Aaron".

For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit his own self?

A lot of similarities indeed. But also a big difference:

Jesus was only seen twice after he passed away; once by Maria Magdalena and once by his apostles.
Elvis has been seen many times by a lot of people since he died; at burger king's, at a gas station, behind the Curtain at Graceland, etc.

To be fair, Jesus did die first..........................

...................................................... all Elvis resurrected in '68 was his fading career................................
