#324876

Post by karlos »

After the legendary Tv Special of 68 ,-

Elvis wanted to get back to his roots and to record good songs and to perform live again just like he did in the early years .-

The AmericanSound Studios in downtown Memphis was the venue , where these legendary sessions took place .-

Chips Moman - a record producer was the man behind the brains for these sessions .-

He knew Elvis 'prowess and strengths and encouraged Elvis delivering good songs .

HERE ARE SOME SONGS THAT WERE RECORDED AT THE MEMPHIS SESSIONS .-

INHERIT THE WIND ,
THIS IS THE STORY ,
STRANGER IN MY OWN HOME TOWN ,
A LITTLE BIT OF GREEN ,
AND THE GRASS WONT PAY NO MIND ,
DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM ,
FROM A JACK TO A KING ,
THE FAIR IS MOVIN ON ,
YOU'LL THINK OF M E,
WITHOUT LOVE (THERE IS NOTHING)
WEARIN THAT LOVED ON LOOK .
ON LY THE STRONG SURVIVE .
ILL HOLD YOU IN MY HEART .
LONG BLACK LIMOUSINE .
IT KEEPS RIGHT ON A HURTIN .
IM MOVIN ON .
POWER OF MY LOVE .
GENTLE ON MY MIND .
AFTER LOVING YOU .
TRUE LOVE TRAVELS ON A GRAVEL ROAD .
ANY DAY NOW .
IN THE GHETTO.,
SUSPICIOUS MINDS .

( SO SORRY IF I HAVE MISSED ANY SONGS )

soon after these sessions - Elvis was rehearsing for this upcoming concert known as - 69 Vegas Season . This was to talke place in 69 at the Las Vegas International Hotel.

this is a cool repertoire that Elvis did .- i really enjoy listening to his voice .- during this period in time .-

I'm not sure, but I wish he had recorded "Just One Smile", you know that song from "Dusty In Memphis" which also was recorded in American Sound in 1969!

I like that song!

Suspicious Minds, no contest. This was always my favorite, but to finally get to hear all of the takes that eventually formed this classic was outstanding (and pretty damned funny).

This is great too. What a shame that Elvis didn´t record other Neil Diamond -songs except that (and SC performed of course), such a great songwriter he is.

Roy Hamilton was not a country singer.

I like the entireFrom Elvis in Memphis sessions and all the single A-sides. Not that Back in Memphis didn't have highlights like "Stranger in My Own Home Town", "A Little Bit of Green", "And the Grass Won't Pay No Mine" and "Do You Know Who I Am?".[/b]

Any CD, whether it be a studio session or live show cannot be bad if it contains "Kentucky Rain" and "Don't Cry Daddy."

They get my vote.

Why do I appear to be one of the only fans to really enjoy his version of "Hey Jude"?

My fave 69 Memphis cuts though are:

A Little Bit Of Green
And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind
You'll Think Of Me
True Love Travels On A Gravel Road
Any Day Now

It's one of my favourites on ELVIS NOW along with HELP ME MAKE IT and WE CAN MAKE THE MORNING.

I know he get's the lyrics muddled but he sings it beautifully and the band are hotter than satans bollocks!
