Elvis - Mac Davis songs

#287823

Post by Denman »

I've read in Muziek, Mens, Mythe by Marc Hendrickx that Elvis sang "I believe in music" on stage in 1974. Are there any recordings of this song by Elvis?

Also, what other Mac Davis songs did Elvis record? I know: Memories, In the Ghetto, Don't cry daddy and Little less conversation.

Thank you and correct me if I'm wrong.

Elvis recorded a few lines of Poor Man's Gold in 1969. He sounds good on the track, shame it wasn't completed.

I used to love the Mac Davis Show in the early 80s.

I loved the part of the program where the audience would shout out these ridiculous song titles, and he would improvise some VERY funny songs right on the spot to fit the titles.

Also wrote, "Nothingsville, Charro, and Clean Up Your Own Backyard".

On the topic of insulting one's wife and Mac Davis, I guess Glenn Campbell
levelled the ultimate insult by stealing Sarah Davis from under Mac's nose.
The joke was on Glenn, though, when he realized that Sarah came with
a very loud mother in law, and he soon left them both for Tanya Tucker.

Just trying to tie in the post and the hijacked thread.
Whew, its tougher than "Six Degrees of Separation".

I've seen him on a couple of things to do with Elvis. Have only seen Mark James once or twice though.

Ok, I'll bite ... its either this, or go out and cut the lawns, so I'll bite.
The Elvis to Mac Davis connetion is direct.
The Elvis to Glen Campbell connection is direct, good bud's and all.
Elvis to Kevin Bacon is a little harder.
How about, Ed Asner was in Change of Habit.
Ed Asner was in JFK with Kevin Bacon.
So, apparently, Elvis has a Bacon Factor of 2!

Good enough, I trust?

He didn't, so there isn't. I guess that's a "Mythe."

The Mac Davis-penned hit for Gallery is actually most appropriate for its author, as he quotes some of his own songs in the lyrics.

In a slightly-related note, there is an incredible performance of "I've Got The Music In Me" by Ann-Margret on the Johnny Carson show, circa 1974-1975. It has to be seen to be believed. My boy, my boy ...

Indeed. Unfortunately, I only saw the clip at an in-person, benefit tribute to Ann and the film "Viva Las Vegas" about three years back. It almost popped my eyes out! Someone had compiled a "rare" reel of video and film clips from throughout her career, which ran before the film. That one was well-received by the sold-out audience of 2,000.

A "Q&A" with the great lady followed. That was fun. She is past 60 and still looks like a million bucks. My boy, my boy ...

I misread, he didn't do it on stage.
