We are due for a nother box set
I think we are over due for a nother Elvis cd box set's.
It's has been 2 years now since the box set of Elvis Close Up came out,
so now it's time for a nother set, i was think a nother live box set.
this set sould be called Elvis on the road.
make this a 4 cd set. the frist 3 disc could be his best complete concerts
and the last disc can be his rare live recordings from 1970-1977.
and even some of his rear 50s concert's also.
so to me it's time for this such a box set to be out for his fans
that love his live concert's.

I miss the box sets! I kind of hate FTDs since they are so hard to get here and so expensive. I hate the hassle of ordering on line and they are too expensive. How about a box set of the best of FTD? jUNGLE SESSIONS, ON TOUR SESSIONS, LIVE IN MEMPHIS and maybe something new so the FTD fans can double dip!
I think the next box set should be an ON TOUR 72-77 4 cd set. If they do release the HR show on the mainstream in a single disc,as they should, then they could release the Greensboro show on a new live BS.
Disc 1
"Live In Carolina", (Greensboro '72)
Disc 2
"Alternate Aloha Concert", (unedited dress rehersal '73)
Disc 3
"Live In '75" (a previously unreleased show from this year)
Disc 4
"The last Performance", (the unreleased Indianapolis show in '77)

So you think it´s time BMG released a complete audience recording on the mainstream market, do you...?Lakeisha wrote:I think the next box set should be an ON TOUR 72-77 4 cd set. One of the weakest shows from 1972...

Nope, this concert should be released in remastered form together with the main show and outtakes from the after show recordings in a DeLuxe Edition box set!

Disc 4

The performance is weak in general IMO. Definately the weakest of the 4 known pro recorded shows from that April tour. There are some good performances in it; Trilogy, Bridge, and maybe one or two others but that´s it as far as I´m concerned.Steve_M wrote:Do you mean Greensboro was weak as far as that particular recording or as a performance ?
I am blown away but that performance personally.

I think you are right in one way, but wrong in another. Greensboro was not a weak performace, but it was not the best performance on the tour. The best performance (of the ones I have heard) was definately Hampton Roads. Elvis was kickin' ass there. For an example he probably did his best version of CC Rider. Greensboro was good, but not that good. I would love to have the full HR concert on FTD. Of course I would love to have it on DVD as complete as possible.....

I agree that the evening Hampton Roads concert is the best until now. But when I listen to the AFT concert we see Elvis is also bringing the house down. I would say I have serious doubt to say which one is better!
One day before in Knoxville I heard from two fans that attended the concert that Elvis gave one of the best concerts of his career. But unfortunately we don´t have any audience recording neither a tracklisting to read it.
Just don´t know if they commented from AFT or ES.
Best Regards!

I've not heard the full concert, but some parts are vocally weak, as if Elvis was totally exhausted. For example the bit on "Until It's Time For You To Go", where he sings, "Don't...ask...FOREVER!" is sung with spine-tingling power on the Afternoon MSG show, but is delivered very weakly at Greensboro. Bridge Over Troubled Water has it's weak spots too.Steve_M wrote:Do you mean Greensboro was weak as far as that particular recording or as a performance ?

He manages to pull it back for Release Me, though.

Maybe I see more in the vocal because I've paid so much attention to the footage that is available now of that show, hearing Elvis's vocal can change when you can see him delivering it.
But I always remembered that suited footage from the original film as being the better performance than the other shows. Strange.
If you wanna hear most of the show and see the bits I've done on the footage just holler.

Maybe it's because some like myself can't afford to buy either FTD's or imports or don't know how to get them. Plus the general public doesn't even know these shows exist.jeffreyjames wrote:It's so strange how people keep hollering about BMG recycling things. Why do others want more of the same? We already have most of the shows that people are begging for. Why?

The HR show will more than likely be the mainstream and NOT a FTD release. If they did that it would be the stupidest move they ever made as far as FTD's go. But then again it's RCA and a bunch of brainless dummies runnin things there,so anything's possible.
