I use one of these. You can play through an existing hi fi system via the RCA cable, and the turntable also has usb, which can be used for recording to a laptop or PC.

I would not buy a record player, that is too cheap. I know so many people that started this way, then had so much fun playing records, that at the end they decided to upgrade to a better player. So I would suggest to spend at least between 300,- to 400,-. Nice brand names are Pro-Ject, Rega and Audio-Technica. Most important for a good sound of course is the cartridge + needle. Audio-Technica offers very good sound for a decent price (between 100,- and 150,-). The Ortofon M20 is also quite famous.
About the fotos: The Audio-Technica LP140 is more expensive than the LP120, but more heavy, and offers really good protection against vibration. It has a direct drive (easy to change to 45 speed for 7'' singles). Pro-Ject has a belt drive, still you can change the speed easily, with the Rega (also belt drive) it is a bit more complicate.

I wouldn't go for one of these all in one suitcase style players they won't do the music justice.
Go for an entry level from the likes of Audio Technica, Fluance,Project.Rega are good too but maybe not such good value in the USA compared to here in UK.
Look for one with a built in phono then you can pair it with a decent budget set of powered speakers rather than having to buy an amp and speakers you can always upgrade along the road if you really catch the vinyl bug like I have.

Considering, that you live in USA, I just browsed through Amazon.com. It seems, that many brand names are not available in the US.

Pro-Ject T1

Audio-Technica

But I also dicovered the Fluance Record Players, that make a good impression. See here on Ebay.com - Fluance . Might be a good alternative in your country, they come in different prices. The RT81 has a build in pre-amplifier.

If your amplifier has a phono input, why do you not buy an used record player from the 70s/80s - they usually are built in much better quality.

For example here on Ebay a classic JVC QL-A2

I'm in support of buying an old turntable.

But be prepared on having some service done.

I'd recommend an old Luxman PDP 282 (I have one) or newer. That's great old players!

I'd also recommend the Denon DL-103 pick up. You get a lot for the money in those.

.
Fluance RT-81 Turntable $249.99 Klipsch R-51PM Powered Bluetooth Speaker $359.95

The turntable already has a preamp built in and the speakers are powered so you don't need an additional amp. This setup, for about $600, will give you a solid system with exceptional sound. It certainly isn't the best you can buy, but Elvis' music will still sound fantastic through it.

Just stumbled across this one at Amacon.com - Crosley for 290,-$.

Reviews are ok and it has a nice design:
"This TT says Crosley on the dust cover and the plinth, but it is a Pro Ject Debut III (discontinued) for under $300! Massive steel platter, the better Pro Ject tonearm (says Pro Ject right on it) with the counterweight anti-skate system, and a very nice Ortofon OM5 cartridge. Sounds great. Better than my Fluance 81 with the ME95 cartridge."
