The situation in London
I've been following the news on the horrible things happening in London today and want to extend my deepest sympathy to all our British friends. I hope you and your families and friends are alright. This is a sad day for all of us.

Thanks Everyone,
Im in London but not near the explosions.
Latest reports are that there is at least 45 dead,150 seriously injured and about 800 with minor injuries.
The bomb on the bus could have been a suicide attack they said.
This will just make the british people give even more support to the war on terror.

You may be right, DJC. But, how do we prevent extremists from killing all of us without giving up all our liberties?drjohncarpenter wrote:A very sad day indeed. The Western world needs to re-think how we can eliminate these events in the future, as the current route doesn't seem to be working.

Sadly...the people living in London have had this for many years, thanks to the IRA and any other crackpots who think their cause is for real..unless you lived through the Blitz of the second world war, you have no idea of the spirit of Londoners..they will carry on as best they can, and never will be defeated ....how can you re-think Doc.. these people are narrow minded, they think they are dying for a place in the afterlife, its education thats sadly lacking and poverty, give a son/daughter to the cause you will get money.I dont know how to explain it, and we will never understand their thinking unless we are all on the same playing fielddrjohncarpenter wrote:A very sad day indeed. GG ..Doc is trying his best,, until 2001 none of the American nation had any idea what the people of Great Britain went through during the second world war, what happened at Twin Towers ( and I apologise for saying so) was nothing to relentless bombing during the second world war..but we are all still here.. and thats where we will be in the future..Unbowed. by fanaticsGraceland Gardener wrote:amazing observation.drjohncarpenter wrote:The Western world needs to re-think how we can eliminate these events in the future, as the current route doesn't seem to be working.

In this act violence one only feels hurt, anger, sorrow. In times like this I hear this song, we all know it:
There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why can’t my dream come true
There must be peace and understanding sometime
Strong winds of promise that will blow away
All the doubt and fear
If I can dream of a warmer sun
Where hope keeps shining on everyone
Tell me why, oh why, oh why won’t that sun appear
We’re lost in a cloud
With too much rain
We’re trapped in a world
That’s troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to dream
He can redeem his soul and fly
Deep in my heart there’s a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there’s a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can talk
While I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream, please let my dream
Come true, right now
Let it come true right now
There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why can’t my dream come true

I live just a few minutes drive away from both the Kings Cross bomb and the Bus bomb. It was a very sad day and my prayers go out to the familys of those who were killed and injured.
Soon after the attacks, most of the phone networks went down which made it impossible to contact family or friends. Being a parent, my main concern was the safety of my children, luckily the schools put the emergency plans into action and I'm glad to say that all my family are safe and well.
My message to the world is this, be nice to one another, because you never know what might happen tomorrow.
For us Londoners, we will carry on and not let the bastards get us down.
Whatever god you believe in, I hope he keeps you all safe in this mad world we live in.

Excelsior!
I highly doubt that.
They are doing it because they have an ancient religious document that instructs them to kill "infidels" which is anyone not of their faith.
and they believe a bogus myth that 72 virgins await them in the afterlife as soon as the bomb goes boom!
orgy-horny pyro-religious cowards. Is that what it all boils down to?
And the real kick in the pants - and think about this as you pump gas - is that our "evil infidel" Western society with its clever industrial might informed the Mideast people, some 90 years ago, that they have "pitch" ....oil stored underground.... and we taught them how to drill for it, refine it, sell it, and thus become rich from it
and this is how they repay us:
high gas prices (from 78 cents to $2 in my lifetime)
and even worse, senseless heartless destruction of innocents on many infamous dates over the past forty years.
Thanks.

you mean the terrorists who caused this destruction are doing it on behalf of starving Africans?KiwiAlan wrote:Eliminate inequity and the problem will vanish.

My deepest condolence to all British people and especially to the people of London and to the affected by bombs. I hope all you in this Bulletin Board from London/UK are well; I consider you one more of my friends and was very worried about this terrible situation that I lived too last year in Madrid, where I lived on march, 11 when various bombs killed 192 people. We are all with you.

First of all my sympathy to all the victims of the unlawful attacks. I condemn all violence in the name of Islam and other.
I highly doubt you actually ever read the koran. Like always people should inform themselves first before they comment. Sad reality is people are happy to provide an uninformed opinion which only stirs up misunderstanding and hate.Graceland Gardener wrote:They are doing it because they have an ancient religious document that instructs them to kill "infidels" which is anyone not of their faith.
Bring joy, avoid misery and be grateful
I won't read it.buddy holly wrote:I highly doubt you actually ever read the koran.
You might as well be telling me, in the 1940s, to read Hitler's "Mein Kamph" to understand why the g*damn nazis are invading Europe and slaughtering Jews.
Either you are against the terrorists or you are not.
DJC offered up a comment here earlier ("sad day -- we must change") that gingerly divided his sympathies and empathies between the victims and the terrorists.
How's that for a balanced view
The Leftwing liberals (of one DJC is clearly one, proudly one) will NOT support the War On Terror unless the terrorists were bombing gay nightclubs and abortion clinics.
Only then would the Hollywood liberals become outraged.
